If all our players got to sit on a half forward flank while their opponent drops off and clogs up the F50, or has stints in the midfield with all the opposition attention devoted to Dangerfield, Thompson and Sloane then I'm sure they would be churning out Douglas type numbers

It's not a mistake. There's difference between making an error like fumbling or a bad kick and what Douglas did, which is just show a complete lack of awareness. It's simply ineptness.
I just don't get why you simply hate a guy who gives his all every week, and is definitely of a standard that would get a game in any AFL side. It doesn't make sense at all. You bag Vader for his strong opinions, but then you are like this with Dougie. Go figure.

I couldn't hear my mate next to me when Port kicked a goal, insane noise!

During our comeback late in the 3rd quarter the noise was incredible but kudos the the crows who attended and the atmosphere they also created, result aside it was just a fantastic crowd to be part of.

The reason is that you expect so much more.

A first round pick who has now played 7 seasons should be a leader and should be one of our prime movers. Instead he is a peripheral player who the opposition would not lose an ounce of sleep over.

Brodie Smith has already overtaken him. By the end of the season Crouch will have. Wright has come off the rookie list and plays more midfield minutes.

He's a handy half forward who has no real impact on our games and is still prone to comical errors at key times.

And the role he plays - half forward who is our 6th/7th player in the midfield rotations is exactly the role you should be using to usher players like Lyons and Kerridge into the team, so that they learn off your A Graders. Instead that avenue into the team is sealed off by a player who is ok but won't improve.

It places a cap on our club.

Sando keeps saying that we need our good players to stand up. Hang on... aren't we all saying that Dougie's been really good? Sando is spot on. The players who matter have been down. Douglas doesn't matter.

That's a bit like someone arguing that Rutten's good form is because all his opposition players are in poor form, or his good form is causing other players to struggle.

Basically a bullshit arguement, but keep digging that hole...

Not every player is a leader, and he is one of our prime movers atm. Only Sloane would be ahead in the B&F. What has being a first round pick got to do with anything? That's a load of crap Carl, and you know it.

Your are not posting anything logical or factual here, it is all just rabble rabble based off blind hatred of a guy who gives everything for the club, and it doesn't make sense to anyone but yourself. It was the same with Scott Stevens, and it is now the same with Dougie. I know you think you are being funny at times, but you aren't, so it's time to please move on.

It was one of the best crowds i have seen in the AFL :thumbsu:

and me.

i dont hate the guy (i dont think carl does either) and i respect the fact that he's trying every week.

but he makes too many mistakes. and they're usually momentum changers.

and you are spot on. it was the same with Scott Stevens for me too, because they both had that exact same characteristic of making multiple, game changing, mind numbingly stupid mistakes a game that hand momentum to the other team.

In - Lyons/Kerridge/Grigg even Martin
Out - Douglas

Where has Jacobs leap gone? Just seems to really be struggling at the moment to get up there. Not sure why.
Vince, Johncock out Lyons, Smith in.

So you are happy for someone who isn't doing any good in SANFL to to get picked?

Of course.

How do you think top talent scouts, recruiters, selectors and coaches make a living? They are able to make judgement calls on talent, on mindset, on what a team needs. Sometimes they are even able to pull guys from relative obscurity to be top AFL players. Why do you think Matt Rendell is so sought after? Because he's really good at reading form guides? No, it's because he has a knack for identifying talent and longevity, among other things. A knack that most people don't have.

If all there was to it was looking at stats sheets from lower levels, you wouldn't need anyone in those positions. You could create an iPhone app to do weekly selection. It would select players like Johncock to play forward in a Showdown because he kicked seven sausage rolls at the Parade on a Friday night. Simple stuff isn't it?

Quality post.

Where are the calls for Chris Schmidt to be redrafted?

Hmmmm.....saliently convincing.

Jenkins ....getting better with each game BUT the problem is both he & Walker like to roam. We need a third tall in Johnston to stand Up ....please !!!

if by roam you mean follow the coaches orders and push the zone up the ground to crowd the opposition space and then spread once crows have possession then you are absolutely correct. this is how the modern game is coached...

Ugly: Alex trolling his own board earlier.

Wasn't trolling.

Just gathering some evidence for a focus group of reactions and how quick they can occur. Got my desired result and asked for it to be closed.

Saying that, It's not my fault you don't care if they urinate on the clubs name. Go read their board.

Why would I care what Power fans think about anything? I have billions of better things to do than read their board.

For all the constant sledging of Douglas .......who we all know will never be a champion ....the fact remains that whilst we have been playing like crap, Douglas is one of the few who have played consistently well.

All good to have him tagged as a player who slips and makes awful mistakes ....but we also need to give credit when the guy is playing well rather than "branding" him forever

He is one of the few with really good disposal efficiency ....he's running the lines well and kicking long precisely rather than bombing like the more celebrated midfielders who for some reason have "Gold Passes" by those who hate "Gold Passes"

You make the top-5 stupid post for the week.

Not for the ins, but for wanting Douglas dropped, when he has been 1 of our best players. You could pick 15 players more deserving of being dropped than Douglas - starting with Vince & Porps.

Wayne's World's post is on the money.

Fortunately the selectors appreciate Douglas for what he brings to the side.

If your not taking the piss, this just about takes the cake for the most ridiculous post on our board thus far this season!!
