It is hate for these guys because they both did Taylor Walker in the 3rd quarter who had 0 posessions and 0 marks and 7 pressure acts. No sit down and let the grown ups talk.
Hahaha.. did you just compare keays and Murphy to Tex..

Heard it all now!..

What?..

Nothing about Keays and Murphy?… in that 3rd quarter?..

Both went MIA for most of it..

This is what shits me.. people love to highlight these two when they do good things and throw around the “oh, i dont get the hate” nonsense.. but then when these two, who are senior players now, go missing they say nothing about it?.. crickets..

What about that 4th quarter?..

Any comment on Keays and Murphy.. two senior players.. streaming down the far wing along side each other with barely a Suns player near them.. and neither of the two could make a decision and neither wanted to kick it cause they dont trust their non preferred.. so they end up running all the way into the forward 50.. ignoring their forwards that are free and waiting for a kick.. only to finally do a loopy handball to Rachele who, by that stage has heat on him from Suns players..

Turnover.

Any comments on that doozy?…

s**t skills, poor/slow decision making and hesitations from senior players in this comp is not something you can carry if you want to play finals.

Its not “hate” for these guys..

Its simply acknowledging that its time to move on from them as their poor skills and decisions become inexcusable liabilities in the big moments in games.

I remember that one - Fogarty was all by himself at CHF - and should have been an easy kick to him. The problem is both have average disposal.

With Murphy I don’t want him in any midfield rotation - he just doesn’t have the skills and he butches it. I won’t knock his desire etc but he doesn’t have the required polish.

Now it has been great that Keays hasn’t been in the midfield the past two weeks, he is a gut runner and his position is in the forward 50 to keep forward pressure up.

Neither of them will be in our side when we are contesting for a flag.

"Murphy and Keays are great" is a pretty strange hill to die on.

I said they had good games overall. I went back to the replay to confirm. I highlighted some decent passages of play.

I was countering the rants about how they are still in the team.

Then another rant arrived which was cherry picking a part of the match. I then illustrated how cherry picking is dumb. It shows it is hate that some people can't mive past, rather than rational analysis.

Look, we all hope that the fringe players get replaced as we go along. But to continue a narrative that they had a crap game is silly. I never said they are superstar players.

Where exactly did he say they were great? I must have missed that?

They were both handy contributors to the win no more no less.

Remember Adelaide has the single most productive offense in the league at the moment and we're doing it without a strong inside group. Odds are they'll be here when we're contesting for a flag because structurally we're on the money when it comes to our forward line, and most of the elite talent underpinning said forward line is young. Providing they're performing at a decent click, and both seemingly have figured out their roles.

Doubly so as we're realistically just one inside midfielder (+ they don't need to be an elite midfielder, because Dawson) and an uptick in production from our kids like Rachele, Thilthorpe and Soglio from being a serious contender, seeing we've been on the precipice this campaign. Get a bit more consistency and power in that inside game and we're just about there.

Was very interesting viewing and conversations at the game. 1st quarter you noticed soligo and shoenberg play more in midfield, we all saw the scoreboard impact, and how they linked with crouch/ Dawson who were driving through the contest.

Our bay was discussing how crows have finally been pulled kicking and screaming into playing kids who deserve a game, in there correct positions and also beginning to make some hard correct calls on non performing players.

Wasn’t all rosy I did say wouldn’t it be great to get rankine and pedlar back and drop keays and Murphy and got a spray from some sections.
Good post; your point about younger players in their correct positions is spot on :thumbsupv1:.

But I did wonder how you achieved all that ie in quiet moments did various people stand and shout opinions, or did you (and others) move around/mingle while discussing the game? :confusedv1: :sneaky:

And "they won't be in our best 22 when we are contending for a flag" is a cheap bigfooty argument.

There are a long list of premiership players that are not that great, but salary cap rules and list size rules mean you don't have 22 superstars on the team.

Oh boy. This might be the worst take in the history of bigfooty.

The point went right over your head.

I said Murphy and Keays played well in the 1st half. While I was watching the replay. And then the argument was they went missing in the 3rd.

My point was picking out a point in time saying that constitutes evidence of a poor game is dumb.

But I guess it takes some intelligence to be able to interpret that.

The "point" never got airborne.

If you can't work out why the comparison was garbage, it's probably not because everyone else lacks the 'intelligence' you're trying to boast about.

Sounds like your opinion has swung on Hinge...
I was wondering if Hinge could become our next swingman. He's definitely pivotal.
I love it when Keays unlocks Doorson...
Can we get Clayton Jamb back in the team? Then we'd have a full set of door hardware. (I'll let each BF'er decide on their own candidate for the knob!)

How does Keays continually cop calls that he can't be part of a premiership team? He's played most of the season at half forward in the highest scoring team for the season and averages 20 disposals at 70% DE, kicked 19.17 (36 shots on goal), 6 score involvements, 14 goal assists (so has contributed 33 goals for the season), 1 tackle inside 50, 3 inside 50s and 3 clearances. Why can't some of you move past your bias about him? He doesn't look the prettiest player by foot, but he's damn effective and works extremely hard offensively and defensively due to his supreme fitness.

It's probably because of things like kicking the ball out on the full under no pressure at a critical moment in a quasi final game with a forward with a paddock to himself up in front.

But hey, he runs hard to receive goals so its all g

You have to weigh up the good and the bad, both sides of the argument tend to ignore the extent of the other.

Which coach gave Murphy 2 votes??

How did Dawson not get a vote but Murphy got two even Borlase got 1 vote
I not Murphy's biggest fan but give him credit for his game on Saturday. He was our best in the 1st half. Go look through the gameday comments on this board.
Jordie had a great match but it's a team game. Borlase had a dream debut match. The coach obviously thought he filled all the boxes to get a vote.
