Not every second round pick makes it

Particularly if after playing consistently good football all year in the sanfl he is not even given a look in for the afl side, despite plenty of opportunities during the year for the selectors to fit him in the side.

This has been the biggest selection duncing of the year.

Hate to say this to everybody, but we need to consider the likely fact that Worrell just isn't considered AFL standard. Same could be said about Frampton, Borlase, Newchurch.

Newchurch hasn't done anything that Rowe or Wright hasn't done many times more (except run fast - talking about kicking goals).

Not to say these guys won't make it, but sick of this rubbish about gifting games to 'see how they go', 'how do we know they're not good enough if we don't play them?'.

Just because you in the top players at SANFL, doesn't mean you are at the bottom level of AFL.

Having said that, I fully expect Turner and Taylor to get a run by the end of the year, the coaches have been indicating this for weeks now.

Oh yeah, that's what I'm saying, it's possible that his solid form just isn't that great.

You know I'm an optimist and would like to see him succeed, but it doesn't look good for him. It can take a while for his type of player though. Same draft Sydney took Gould the player a lot here wanted, still hasn't played a game despite good form.

What gets me with the so called journalists that rock up to the pressers keep bringing up Matt Crouch lately, even Newchurch at selection but never ask about Worrell who has consistently played well enough at SANFL to earn another shot at AFL but nada, nought, nothing ever...

What gets me with the so called journalists that rock up to the pressers keep bringing up Matt Crouch lately, even Newchurch at selection but never ask about Worrell who has consistently played well enough at SANFL to earn another shot at AFL but nada, nought, nothing ever...

But let’s face it, sports journalists are the guys who weren’t even good enough to be weather men.

I sometimes wonder if afl reporters actually watch afl games, let alone following what’s happening in the minor leagues.

Maybe so, but when our 3 small forwards are the absolutely &#d@¥% combination of Rowe (likely to be delisted this year), Murphy
(likely to be delisted next year) and McHenry (likely to be delisted the year after) when their contracts expire - then what is there to lose in giving Newchurch a go? At least he has genuine pace and is coming off a very good SANFL game.

Gifting games …. How many has Ned been gifted? The AFL’s only specialist player with the role of manically running after the opposition player with the ball but never catching them due to his lack of pace and agility ….. except if they go to ground in which case he’ll crash in and give away a high tackle free.

Might as well try a few juniors who might not be good enough in place of a few relative seniors who are definitely not good enough. If you’re right and it weakens the team over the last few junk rounds then lock in Pick 3.
