What's a good computer build for $1250?

I will build it myself, and use it for gaming and multimedia stuff eg. editing movies, downloading music etc.

I already have peripherals and Windows, so $1250 is pretty much just for the box.

APC magazine has a feature on PC builds in their current edition, as well as the master builder competition, which has some good tips.

Atomic also has a regular feature on PC builds. They have 3 levels of build - Budget, Medium and Hardcore.

Go to a local Newsagency and have a look.
