Nowhere near full strength, against a full strength Blues with 3 extra players (does anyone know the final free kick count? At one stage it was 30 to 13 against us. Certainly wasn't as if every single one was there), to only go down by 7 was a ripper effort, I reckon....

Meh. Add Smith, Vanders, Jacobs, Croad, Brown and Ladson to that team and we're a much better unit.

Ben McGlynn was shocking..

I hate to be negative, but we made way too many errors and the ball came out of our forward line way too easily. Buddy, Crawf and Boyle played well, but we really should have won that.

On this occasion it would be difficult for anyone to say you are negative.

However I would say the reason we lost was the backline. Poor defensively with little attacking run.

AC should have moved Hodge along the HB line in the last part of the 4th to create and win as Carlton's midfield were in control.

Couple of comments:

- blues definately seemed to have the crowd - very dissappointing given we have given up a lot to play in tasmania

- blues effort superb, on a ground I don't think they have ever played on

- hawks, too many turnovers - v poor entry into the 50

- clarke, mcglynn, murphy - crap substandard disposal

- bateman - not sighted - in fact worst game I can remember

- umpiring - probably didn't change the result but consistantly one way

- little - again too little

- Taylor /campbell - need more discipline - both sub std.

Just can't get into the pre-season cup. At the end of the day means nothing.

For me footy starts with the round 1 - everything goes up a notch, players, coaches, fans etc.

To me it look like we were experimenting tonght with a few different styles of play. Just didn't see any consistency in the way we played.

I think however, Hodge has to play out of the centre as first option.

Problem is until we get croad & jacobs back I think the feeling is we need to get some experience down in the backline.

Hodge provides that.
Agree... in tonights situation.

The coaches were also practicing and came short like some of the players.

To take a step up this year every opportunity to win and demonstrate our tactical strength has to be taken.

Tonight we failed.

A cynic would probably note the irony in the supposable strong pro Hawk crowd at the Tesltra Dome last week given the justification for playing games in Tasmania...am I right BB ;)

Luckily I'm not a cynic ;)

Terrible game all round really
