It'll be very interesting to see how he goes because he was always going to struggle in 2006 as he was recovering from a knee reco, players usually get back to themselves a year later

Rodan pleases Port

AFL discard David Rodan showed he could be a draft steal with a dominant performance in Port Adelaide's trial match at Alberton last night.

The former Tiger, the last player taken in the 2006 national draft (No. 86), starred in the midfield, defence and while resting in attack to pencil his name in coach Mark Williams' side to play Adelaide in the NAB Cup opener at AAMI Stadium on Friday.

Playing for the possibles team, Rodan won a swag of possessions, ran hard through the lines and proved tough to tackle, supporting Kane Cornes' judgment that he is very strong. He also kicked three goals.

Rodan, 23, who played 65 games in five years at Richmond, was the pick of the new boys and looks set to play a significant role this season.

No surprise to me that he could do really well, has pace and good handling skills and kick, good luck to him , we needed to change the mix and he needed another chance

Nice work Rodan!

Be good to see him be successful at another club but it just wasnt working for Richmond.

Precisely my thoughts.

A top bloke to talk to and would always try his hardest. Sometimes it just isn't meant to be and i guess that was the case with his relationship with the RFC.

Good on him for not giving in and showing he has the goods! :thumbsu:

Some great comments and support - it goes to show that some players deserve more than one chance and hopefully he makes the most of it.

From what I have seen at training and the internal trial - he has done everything right so far and looks a likely first up starter. Also a number of reports that he is "a good bloke" which will help the development of our younger players.

For pick 86 he was worth the risk.

I too wish only the best for Rodan. He is indeed the nicest person. Always willing to talk to fans sign autographs and have his picture taken with fans. I hope it all works out for him at port and that he plays really good footy for them....just not against us though :D

rodan was a good player and was always going to be good at port not a champion but a very good player

its just with his injuries he kind of lost his spot at richmond and the foleys and polo and deledios took it

he will do very well at port and i hope he has a great year

Yes, good luck to him....never dominated games and certainly couldn't compete in the middle, but talented forward pocket type, flashing in to put on scoreboard pressure.

lol the guy was a dud will not be a loss

pre season form give me a break players just want to get gametime under their legs watch when the real footy starts and rodan has to use his brain

:) I'M with you Deliberate! You are either for or against us.

Rodan is no different to Ottens, Fiora, Ben Harrison, Damien Ryan. or whoever! Once you're gone, you're gone!! End of story!!

Be careful what you wish for...you just might get it.

Wish Rodent good luck and good fortune ...yeah .... and watch him boot the winning goal against us to deny us a finals berth!!! Could happen.

Good bye and good riddance I say. We gave him enough chances but he could grasp them.

And to think, I once lived in that cesspit of a state.

Seriously Average...you got it!!
