Good Morning Joffa,
When you're shovelling your Coco Pops into your mouth this morning, make sure you leave enough room on the table for one of those big RACV country maps. You've got a few days to figure out the best way to Chinkapook for the Pies' next outing

Chinkapook

Football :
At Chinkapook, players were forced to scoot around a tree stump on the half-forward flank, a fact that old-timers bring up when youngsters complain about piffling matters such as the lack of grass on Mallee grounds.

1925 - It seems likely that Chinkapook were in the Northern District FL.
1926 - Chinkapook were certainly competing in the NDFL. Due to assumptions made amongst description of that league, it looks as though Chinkapook were in the league prior to 1926, as well.
1928 - Chinkapook had a club in the NDFL in 1928, possibly pies or roos guernseys.
1929 - NDFL Grand Final - The final was postponed for a week due to a dust storm. Robinvale defeated Chinkapook in the rematch. Chinkapook seemed to be wearing the same design of guernsey as in 1928.
1933-1940 - Chinkapook may have competed in the Manangatang-Waitchie FL.
1947 - Chinkapook had a club, most likely in the Nandaly-Bolton FL. They wore black or blue guernseys with white collar.
1950 - Chinkapook had a club. The guernsey was the same as in 1947, but with one horizontal band of red or something similar. This, also, was probably in the Nandaly-Bolton FL.
1952 - Chinkapook had a club in the Manangatang FL. They were back to pies/roos guernseys.
1958 - This is the likely year that Chinkapook joined the Tyrell FL.
1962 - Chinkapook competed in the Tyrell Football League.
1963 - Chinkapook merged with Manangatang, whereby the team became the Chinkapook-Manangatang Football Club, still playing in the Tyrell Football League.
1977 - The Chinkapook name was dropped, and the team became known as simply Manangatang.

See the bold bit? Looks like they could do with a team again, a MAGPIE team again ...

Relocation? Surely not!

It wouldn't work - I daresay it'd never snow in Chinkapook so not much chance of having those June fixtures called off. It'd be more winless winters for the Wombles.

Maybe a more appropriate climate-based relocation could come in the form of a merger with Mitta Mitta, to become the Mitta Mitta Munchkins, completely bereft of any players over 6 feet tall.

Thanks for that little bit of history, Mobbenfuhrer. Does this mean that the Managatang Thirds were once called the Chinkapook-Managatang Thirds?

Nah. It would never catch on. I much prefer Managatang Thirds. Keep it simple, I reckon.

Yeah I'd expect that they would have had thirds in those years where they were Manangatang-Chinkapook, or Chinkapook-Manangatang, or whatever it was.
