From the Hun:

NICK Riewoldt and Nick Dal Santo will reject huge offers from rival clubs to stay at St Kilda, with Riewoldt tipped to cross the $1 million mark in football earnings.
Their manager, Ricky Nixon, has officially put offers to the Saints and is awaiting a response, which could come back as early as next week.
"I have put an offer back for both of them and Xavier Clarke and it all rests with the club," Nixon said.
Asked if his offer was a strong indication the players wanted to stay, Nixon said: "Yes and no. You're always going to put an offer back to the club, you're not not going to put an offer back.
"Now the ball's in St Kilda's court."
Riewoldt's contract, which is expected to span three years, will centre around football and marketing components.
For example, he would receive an estimated $700,000 football contract which will be counted in the salary cap and up to $300,000 in marketing which is not included.
Personal endorsements and sponsorships from companies such as Toyota, Nike, Vodafone and the National Australia Bank, add another estimated $200,000.
Dal Santo, the subject of interest from several clubs, is in the range of $450,000-$500,000 a year from football alone, and is likely to include incentives such as best-and-fairest finishes, All Australian representation and even Brownlow Medal performances.
Nixon did not discuss financial details.
Saints football manager Ken Sheldon told the Herald Sun a positive announcement was expected shortly.
He said Nixon's offer and the club's evaluation were "not too far apart", which virtually ends any possibility of either Riewoldt or Dal Santo leaving the club.
If Nixon's offer and the Saints' evaluation of the two players are drastically different, the door would open for teams such as Collingwood, Essendon and Carlton.
The Brisbane Lions also were a player in the Riewoldt market, but coach Leigh Matthews recently asserted the club did not have enough money in its cap to recruit the Saint.
Sheldon said the discussions with Nixon were healthy.
"We've received the offers, we are looking at them and we don't think we are too far apart," Sheldon said.
"And we expect to make an announcement very soon.
"We are on a mission for our supporters and everyone involved to keep all our players at the footy club.
"As with our uncontracted players, the negotiations are in a healthy state. "We're working, in this case with Ricky Nixon, about the players and the negotiations are healthy.
"These blokes are the future of our footy club."

what do is meant by 'Roo, Dal and X to re-sign (not resign)'?

Also what is the go with X Clarke?
Well, I was just making the point that they sound similar - re-sign with the club (as in stay) as opposed to resign from the club (as in leave). Many years ago Tim Webster from Sports Tonight read out the headline that Buckley had resigned from Collingwood. He meant re-signed with Collingwood.

What is the go with X? He is a gun and is going to re-sign (not resign).

The Saints have rejected Roo's terms,he could go to another club.
If he is after $1 million i would reject it to, cant pay that much for a bloke who cant kick. But if he goes i will cry myself to sleep. I think he is a $700,000 to $800,000 player at best. Judd is the only player in the comp who could even ask for $1 million and even thats silly. That much to run around and kick a ball, its a hard life for some aint it.
