I am pretty sure that I saw Robert Walls' top eight prediction on the television on the W/E and he didn't have Sydney in it! Can anyone confirm?

I can confim that. It is great news as it means that the Swans will in fact make the top 8 and will probably go on to win the Premiership :D

Oh yes, I saw that the other night. Couldn't help but chuckle at the top 8.

I'd love to see the egg on Walls' face.

You should have heard David Schwarz's ladder prediction on SEN..... farcical!

he had the Swannies at 14th
West Coast at 10th

And believe it or not, had the nerve to plonk carlton in at 8th

He's a stubbie short of a six-pack! :D

I'm happy with that. I like the under dog tag but I also like to think there are a few others that give us a chance. I think Dermies being a bit of an optimist though.

Yeah, its Natanui. While we're at it, let's just play every young player we have, fck them over, beat them up so much they're scared of Milne, and then trade them off and blow all our bux on an injured star.

Yeah, lets.

*Mattf83, you'd rather get the spoon and have a mediocre season than make the 8?

Stkilda, Carlton, Richmond and Hawthorn have arguably all underperformed the last 10 years and got a lot of high draft picks for it.

Point is we have played to our best, got no freebie high draft picks and defied logic in that time period by producing more premiership cups than those 4 teams combined.

Comically we have also had more AFL investigations into us "not playing to win" than those 4 clubs

Is Natanui worth coming last and losing sponsors and membership?

no, NO player is worth having that indelible stain on the character of an entire club ... indefinitely

but there's no doubt this kid is potential dynamite
i'm assuming most of us know how he's been rated ... carlton have said they'd have taken him ahead of kreuzer but he was two days too young to be eligible
i've seen a very small amount of footgae, and it's his athleticism for his size
i mean, kreuzer is pretty athletic for a big kid, this bloke makes him look like simon prestigiacomo

If you read my post properly i would love us to finish 1st-6th and get a home final.

I never said we should tank, but it would be a better end result to finish further down the ladder than to just miss the finals or drop out in the first week.

If we look like missing the finals we should start blooding kids, i have no problems with that policy at all, as long they go out there to win. No point persisiting with some of the old players (crouch, matthews etc..) if we arent going to make finals. If blooding kids means we lose a few more games and finish lower on the ladder, then all the better for 09.

But i really hope we finish 1-6

Should it become obvious that we can't be realistically competitive this season then I too agree we should place an increased emphasis on blooding some of the younger kids who have been running around in the Canberra comp.

But IMO there needs to be a balance in that they must earn the right to wear the jumper and that they need to have the never say die "bloods" culture and respect for the jumper instilled into them, which won't happen if they are playing in a team which is focused on winning high draft picks, but instead with other players who are trying their best.

But yes if we can't be competitive IMO there needs to be more blooding and also more "easings" into retirements.

Very difficult in that I also strongly believe that it is important that the club treats our current older champions with respect and dignity.

Whether the team wins a flag or regulary looses by ten goals, I want to support a team that plays its heart out and I am proud to say that has been our Swans
