Collingwood's 2014 campaign ended in a tight, torrent affair with the Sydney Swans at the SCG in the 2nd Semi Final.
The pies were in the contest all night, taking it right up to the eventual premiers until Kurt Tippett kicked two goals in the final 3 minutes to drown out the Collingwood charge. It was seen as a good developmental year for the Magpies as they were able to introduce some handy new recruits and rookies into the system while still having Nathan Freeman and Matthew Scharenberg up their sleeve for the coming season.
Luke Ball and Ben Hudson both announced their retirements fro senior football. The Pies were pleased to announce that Nick Maxwell would play on for the 2015 season. The Pies delisted Tony Armstrong, Caolon Mooney, Corey Gault and Martin Clarke.
