On top of our winning form, other results have been good for us too. At the start of the season the only teams who could have really won the flag are Port, Bris, St Kilda, Melb, Geelong, and West Coast. Port have only one 1 1/2 games in five rounds and Brisbane 1 game out of four. St Kilda is 2-2 and Geelong are 3-2. Despite Melbourne's loss last week, they look the goods and although the Kangaroos are undefeated and may even make the top 4, I don't believe they will be a serious finals threat.

What's good about this?

1. Brisbane and Port may now struggle to make top 4. Assuming the Eagles make top 4, these are the two teams that they don't want to play come September. It would be much better to play a team that had yet to prove itself.

2. We're a game or two up on Geelong and St Kilda. Give us a bit of breathing space because I think these teams are contenders.

Its been very hard picking the contenders because its been such an unpredictable start to the season. Even though we haven't been very convincing in our wins, I think we can take a lot away from the fact that games we are winning "luckily" other more fancied teams are losing. A champion team knows how to win scrappy tight games and we've had a few of those. I think more as the season goes on, we'll start getting into our motions and start playing our natural running game, which will put us in good stead. So far so good for Season 05, let's hope the boys can keep it up this Sunday hey?

fair play but we have yet to prove ourselves as well , i dont know how well our game plan will operate in tight finals footy

Sooner test it on Geelong or Melbourne than Brisbane or Port. Other than that I think out game plan will work fine. We've been good in tight situations recently and our gameplan seems to lead us into tight but controlled games.

I'm more concerned with having the fitness after a long years with our young list and being able to be in form in September. Finals exp might be an issue too. I don't believe our bad recent record counts as most of our team has only been involved in the recent ones where we were rank underdogs.

will be interesting to see if north drops off. they have had a pretty seay draw so im dont think they will make top 4 but after this start they would have to be good chances for top 8. they are not a threat IMO. if we get them at subi we will be all over them like a bad rash.

port and lions are always going to cause problems because of brown and tredrea.

it does not matter how games go that dont involve us, games involving is are what matters. we have had a good draw so far. get over brissie today and win at least 3 or 4 more on the road and things will be looking good for september

Of course it does. You been watching post game coach press conferences too much.

Finals are hard matches at the best of times but you'd sooner not play a top 2 team that has got an excellent recent finals record than a top two team that is still making a name for themselves as finals heavyweights.
