I asked the Chief what he wants from us

Basically write a blog, a regular commentary on events and happenings in the AFL.

Find interesting news and web sites and make unique observations. Find the best threads in BigFooty and explain WHY they are the best, why they matter to the average fan. Include images and videos.

http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/2006/06/how_to_get_traf.html

Suggestion number 36 is, of course, INSANE!

The www.BigSoccer.com home page shows what their featured bloggers get up to.

What we want all contenders to do is blog over the finals series. If they are interested they should just go here and start posting:

http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/blog.php

Point them to BigSoccer.com to show what their featured bloggers are writing. Suggest they search for articles and advice on blogging.

Then we can work out which ones are top notch and will be featured on the home page.

I am going to take one for the team and put my hand up for this.....

But PUNTER, L2M4G, PERSERVING SAINT and SQUIZ are solid posters - a lot of good posters on the saints board, they are just the ones that spring to mind

The Punter has already posted a blog

Please follow the link and feel free to make a comment.

Great work Punter, I'll have to do something now - I've been thinking of a piece on the Saints - Cats rivalry.

(I'll try not to be too embarrassing guys).

Nice one Punter. Cheers :thumbsu:

While (loosely) on the subject of good posters, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all for a good year. It's been bloody great reading all your posts, opinions, battles & humor. An absolute pleasure! A bit of a sanctuary away from the struggles of normal life.

Good luck for tomorrow night & next week should the cards fall our way, my fellow Sainters! I should be there & hopefully back next week.

If not I'll order a beer for you one day ;):thumbsu:

Strength through loyalty!

Go Saints!

Wow, that is a good effort! I've really loved this place - been a real haven of not-so-serious in an otherwise hectic world.

This place is like a 2nd home now. Sad isn't it? Glad i built up the courage to post.
Everyone sticking around for the off season?

This has been my most rewarding year as a moderator of the Saints board.

For so long this board was dead, then there was a constant trickle of posts - now we are a community of posters. We have a few village idiots, and some antisocials, some intellectuals, and some real leaders. But most of all we have a whole lot of interesting people who just love to find out news, read our posters' opinions, post their own and provide interesting stuff for visitors to read.

Thanks for a great year guys.

As you know - I'll be around for the duration, so don't be shy over the off season - come on in and discuss the draft and trade week.

There will be discussion on the Saints AGM and the move to Seaford.

There will be interest in the preseason progress of our younger players leading up to the preseason comp.

Most importantly we will need posters for our dream team and supercoach leagues next year.

So just because the footy has ended does not mean we will have nothing of interest - pop in every so often and check it out.

PS - a new competition with decent prizes will also start soon - watch for an announcement.

Cheers Kildonan

So for the bribes, do you take credit cards or does it have to be cash?

If we're allowed to wind up Collingwood and/or Carlton supporters I'm in, otherwise my ideas cabinet is a little bare ;)
There's always Sydney, Fremantle and Adelaide

Bloody oath brother. We've gotta get ready to win the flag in 09!

Sorry i have just come out of a deep depression. Yeah **** the haters.. 2009 Come on saints.

Milney should be back sumtime during the preseason.

Dear brother spiritual guide, just wanted to drop you a quick note to say it is a comfort to know that you are here while some of us are drawn away to fight on other battle front. Keep fighting the good fight and bloody good onya mate.
Keeper of the truth, I salute you! Cheers L2M4G - You are a bloody Saint! :thumbsu:

Oh that is delightful my brother.

L2M4G can't escape the Saints. I went to a wedding in Ballarat yesterday and I was sitting alone as the lovely was a bridesmaid. Out of all the people at the wedding, who sits next to me? That's right Mr and Mrs Frawley (Spud's parents). FWIW, both are pumped for the Sainters to the get the Cuz Man!

I'd better say Sainter or I'll get into trouble.

Onya Sainter. :thumbsu:

And from the old days, Savatage, Vaul, Kildonan...

Good answer. :p

Be good to have you and Savatage posting here again. Vaul still posts here occassionally. It's a much busier place today.

Saintsational serves it's purpose (Big Marts training reports and the player sponsorships for example) and I really try to give it a chance but there are certain posters who almost make the site unreadable for me.

On another note, I'd like to thank Kildonan for moderating this board on his own from the start of July to the start of November while I was on my travels. Yes, you can directly trace the improvement in our season to me leaving the country. :(

Yep agreed Kildonan's always on the ball & does a great job moderating, but I think any improvement in the site may have been greater input from a larger number of people as the excitement of the season went on, not you gettign voted off the island ;).

You'll have to excuse me Sainter but have you posted something on the board I may have missed or a blog somewhere about your travels & how you managed to support the Saints from afar when the boys started playing better as a team & pushed us into 4th position?

No, didn't really post anything about it. My last game here was the Friday night win over the Dockers. Terrible game but Harvey was best on ground and it was his last ever votes in the Brownlow medal so it was at least memorable. Not getting to see him play his last game will always be a regret of mine. The night before I left was the great comeback against the Kangaroos on the Gold Coast so maybe the signs of a revival were there.

I can pretty much tell you which hostel/internet cafe I was at for each of our games after I left. So much for getting away from footy. :o

During our round 19 loss to Collingwood I was on the internet at a hostel in Berlin and a guy came down in a Saints jumper to listen to the game. I was at a hostel in Sorrento in Italy when we had to beat the Bombers by 90 odd points to make the top four. That was fun. Nothing like cheering and groaning in front of a room full of strangers who don't understand what you're following. The worst moment was leaving the opening day of Oktoberfest to follow the Hawks final. By the time the game was over and I headed back to the tents I couldn't get in for the rest of the day/night. I was fully prepared to book my flights home there and then had we won but I suppose I was always meant to stay for another 5 weeks.

I had a great time and would love to go again. It sounds terrible to say but footy was the thing I missed the most. You know your family and close friends will always be there but Saints wins haven't exactly been a common occurence over our history.

Sainter, that sounds bloody awesome. Sorrento sounds great :) I wish I travelled more before family things tied me down for the short term future. I'll still do it, just in a few more years. Cheers & thanks for sharing.
