Gotta give Eddie props for coming out swinging in face of the rumours that have been swirling.
He’s passionate and actually gives a rats about the club.
Great to see him standing up for the players and the club and encouraging the AFL to investigate and put a stop to it.
Some of the things being said were libel and I’m guessing those who started it might be feeling spooked.
If anything it might stop others going down this road.
And as usual, funny to see the keyboard warriors hanging it on Eddie. He’s doing what they only wish their own presidents would do and that’s stand up and stick up for the club when the heats on.

It took the boss of bigfooty several hours to take down that thread......after refusing to do so.

Not surprising considering who he barracks for........cheating Football Club still paying for that cheating Premiership.

Maybe Eddie should start with bigfooty for perpetuating these lies.

If I’m having my take on proceedings (which I’m loathe to do, but your a ledge so context is required) and being hyper critical then Ed could have issued a public statement on our website once it was confirmed bogus. Again that’s hypercritical and in no way a reflection on whether I think Ed did chose the right or wrong path.

They have the ability to track down the instigator so what I would have done, and I hope Ed did, is turn the story on its head by picking up the blower and giving them the most savage ear beating they’ve ever copped in their life. In front of the entire football department. Send the msg of side by side and that we’re behind the playing group. That should stay behind closed doors though.

On to my point. Ed did what any and all presidents with his media profile would do. You and I would have done the exact same as would any of us. It’s not threadworthy, IMO.

Disagree mate........I am loyal to the core and when something I care about is being attacked I get my back up.

And look that’s the only thing I’m disagreeing on. Naming players is also why I’d have taken the path I suggested because that’s not on and I’d support the club taking it further.

At the end of the day it’s the second worst thing that’s been done to Collingwood this decade behind only a certain former high level insider leaking information about illicit drug use...

Strange comment and cant say I agree. The BS rumour gained so much traction it was simple due diligence for Ed to pick up the phone to AFL HQ. PS were you rejoicing yesterday Black_White?

I barely took notice of the rumour because I don’t follow twitter, Facebook, or believe anything I read on BF.
I merely ignored it until there was certainty, which came today.
I did express dissapointment that Ed felt the need to ask for clarification from the authorities instead of just believing the player/coaching groups that nothing was amiss.
Or don’t you think he canvassed them first?
I don’t blame him for having to do so. History tells us we have enough dimwits on the playing list that it wasn’t hard to think there may be truth in the rumour.

Re your lasr sentence, had he done as you would have wanted, his critics would have been upset that by doing so he merely gave the rumour credence.
