So, they listed the SANFL premierships won?
And this is supposed to be some kind of achievement?
Its great that Port Magpies were so successful, if only their ugly younger cousin Port Power were half as successful.

how many SANFL premierships have you got? if you to continue to ignore facts like a flat earth believer you can, but no amount carrying on can change facts. I'm done hear, you're an idiot.

Can't say I'm going to miss the place one little bit, have a few good memories of the place though, but will be much happier walking across the Torrens to Adelaide Oval than being squashed into a bus heading to Westlakes.

Favourite memory of the ground was watching James Manson kick the sealer against Adelaide in '95 and give Shaw the bird. Also enjoyed watching the Adelaide fans go feral on their own side that day too as we slammed on 9 goals in the final quarter.

Firstly its H-E-R-E. I let it go the first time thinking it might be a typo, but no, proof now that you're an uneducated moron.

So if the crows reserves win the SANFL flag next year we have 3 premierships? Amidoingthisright?

No thanks. I don't get that emotional at the footy.

The 'soft cock' comment was really directed at people complaining that AAMI was a hostile environment for opposition supporters. I stand by it. I think complaining about something like this is weak as piss.
To be honest I loved the trip to Football Park for the 2 matches I've seen there, we got pumped both times but it was a good day of witty banter exchanges between myself and the group I was with and the locals.

wow you got me on a typo, well done. I'm the first to admit my spelling isn't fantastic, no need to get personal because I'm questioning your nonsensical argument. it's not a matter of debate, it's fact. If they're not the same club who did the AFL offer the licence to via the SANFL in 1996?

Hawthorn are the same club, and has always been the same club despite colour/guernsey changes.
Port were in a different league, and their team still exists in that league, therefore the new team is not the same team.
There is no similarity in the two examples whatsoever.

Every club is a franchise and a brand, as well as being a club.

Trust me, its not jealousy or spite, its just common sense.
But that's bringing up the philosophical idea of the Ship of Theseus. If a boat has its wood panels replaced one by one, when all the planks are different to the original ones, is it still the same boat? So is the Hawthorn of 1930 the same as the Hawthorn of 2013? Yep. It is. There's an indistinguishable continuity. Port Adelaide are legally recognised as the one entity with two teams, a bit like Collingwood fielding AFL and VFL sides, or even South Fremantle having league, ressies, and colts.

Port are the same club even if they play in two jumpers, have two logos, two nicknames, and two playing lists.

Port Adelaide are the only club to be promoted through state league dominance. And were the first in 60-odd years to be promoted from outside the VFL. The AFL thought they deserved the right to national competition and would bring something to the table.

NUFC, YES.

Speaking of which, the bags of urine is just an urban myth, isn't it?

Exactly how it should be. This sort of stuff doesn't have to be nasty. There will always be a few bad eggs in the crowd but I mostly found AAMI to be a pretty reasonable place to watch footy. This is why I think the "burn it to the ground" comments are pretty laughable.

Could you elaborate? I haven't heard about this?

Not the best video but Gary Ablett's 150th game vs the Crows one of the best games by a player I've ever seen
46 disposals
3 goals

Oh I remember that. I've never seen a single player dominate us as much as Ablett did that day. The guy is a freak.

I still think the best footy park moment was Tony Modra's mark of the year against North Melbourne in 1993. He deserved the accolades, especially considering Glen Archer punched him in the face with a rather late attempt at a spoil. These days Archer would probably cop a few weeks for that.

plenty of good and bad memorys for me, great wins, heart breaking losses.

my memory is a little hazey someone might be able to tell me the year but it was a state of origin game and we beat the big V.
I was only young a fella and the late great teddy whitten got up for his speech, the whole crowd had the " teddy's a w#$ker " chant in full voice. teddy took it all in his stride as the great man did.
he then said something to effect of "It s bloody hard to lose over here but if people think state of origin is dead then I'll tell em to get here to football park and witness this atmosphere" the full house roared!

footy park state of origin was massive.

Certainly. I've heard stories that opposition supporters used to get bags of urine hurled at them, back in the 1990s.

Ah okay. Well can't say I've seen that myself but it wouldn't surprise me. Adelaide has its share of scumbags like any city. I can't see that happening these days though and if it did, those people would be promptly banned from the venue.

The worst I've ever seen at AAMI was Port Magpies supporters behind the goals giving crap to a West Torrens full back. The language they we're using was reprehensible. I'm surprised the player didn't jump the fence and smack them. Haven't seen anything worse than that. I've heard of brawls breaking out from time to time but I've never actually seen that happen.

The one and only time I've been to Football Park (AAMI Stadium) was for last years Semi Final, Fremantle vs Adelaide and although we lost the match it was pretty awesome.

The crowd weren't too feral, the occasional one but they are in every crowd, and the whole stadium just took me back to the good old days of Waverley. It felt like a smaller version of it.

So all I can really say is I've been there, it was great and I'm sure the Adelaide oval awesome too.

I never saw any shit apart from an emotional outburst by a Norwood supporting of mine after the 1996 Prelim, that I mentioned earlier in the thread . I want to burn it down because it was cold, it was a pain in the arse for me to get to and the facilities were shit.
I always enjoyed Footy Park but times have moved on.

Oh totally agree with that. West Lakes was a totally shit place to have an oval. I really don't know wtf they we're thinking. It's not central to anything and the roads away from the oval bottleneck like crazy with the traffic. They did improve the facilities a little bit but the location was always a big problem. Adelaide Oval can't come soon enough.

Had no choice, when looking to build the stadium the SANFL tried to buy land close to the city at a number of locations, the SACA old boys club blocked the purchases every time and ended up being shunted out to West Lakes. Whilst the stadium has had its faults it has served football well.

The 1985 & 86 SANFL Grand Finals, 1984 & 1992 SOO, the 1st game for the Crows and 1997 Semi against Geelong all are fond memories.

that and the State Government gave the SANFL the land for free I'm pretty sure, that takes out one big cost.

I never knew this, it's a bit ironic then that cricket couldn't survive now without the AFL bringing in so much money to the stadium.
