You miss the point - he was found guilty and suspended for a week. It was only his good record (and I must say, I never realised that he hadn't ever been reported in 10 years of footy) that changed it to a reprimand.

Barry Hall and Goodes can do what ever they like on the field. Its a new clause encouraging thuggery in the north eastern state
Fletcher, Kerr and Chick can do whatever they like off the field.
Good decision. It was a stupid act, but did no damage to anyone. Not eligable for the brownlow, but no serious enough to miss a match.
And he was given a week based on the charge, which then reduced because of the good record and guilty plea.

Not meaning to re-ignite an old argument (well, maybe I am..) but Hall doesn't have a good record and his 40m off theball incident was deemed 'in-play'??? Just like Goodes was deemed 'Low-impact'?? I'm sure Fraser Gehrig would have something to say about both of those.
How are they saying it's okay? There was no harm to Godfrey - Goodes deserved a week for his ridiculous act and benefited from the reduction due to good record and guilty plea, which everyone gets.

Could've been harmful though and there was intent. Certainly wasn't accidental. Should've gotten the week just for being a git, good record or no.
Hall's act is irrelevant.
The assessment of Gehrig's was the same as Goodes', but he didn't have the good record option.

Have a look at the DVD distributed by the AFL before the 2005 season started. In that DVD there was an example of an incident "in play" that was the same exact incident of what happened to Hall. The tribunal's hands were tied because of this official DVD - basically, in 2005 if your team had possession and you were forward of the ball and seemed to be leading for the ball it was in play. Most of the "behind play" charges that year were when the opposition had the ball or when it was dead ball time, like at a stoppage, after a goal or after the siren had sounded.
They fixed the loophole for 2006, but back in 2005 Hall's incident was in play.
Yeah, I thought it was pretty stupid and thought he deserved a week for stupidity, but you should get some benefit for a decade of not being reported.

I hope Godfrey is man enough to apologize to Goodes for the inconvenience this has caused him.
As I said, he scored the same amount of points as Gehrig.
