Goodes?

Goodes has been very, VERY lucky a few times at the tribunal, when i first saw the incident i thought he was in a bit of strife, however with Selwood i thought he was gone for 2-3 for sure. No one could possibly know what the MRP will come up with, i dont wanna see a good player out, but, with his carry over points and the fact he should have got a spell for the Selwood incident he must go this time.
Question for the Swans supporters. He is a star footballer very talented one of the best of this generation, why does he continue to do stupid things like this or the Selwood incident or going back the Godfrey incident? Is he an angry angry man, does he just have silly brain fades or is he a bit mentally weak, not stirring up trouble just curious as to why he does it??

no idea!!!! After last week and a couple of other close calls you would hope he would of been able to restrain himself from even the smallest indiscretion.

DAMMIT
no goodes for collingwood match
that could hurt
its as clear as bloody daylight why he hits people like that
its because at half of the rucks hes roving at, he runs straight through me middle of it as if (he expects) the ball to drop into his hand, he can break through and kick a goal or get into space, have a run and spear it to baz or someone
the reality is (though when the pill does fall in his hands and he breaks free its amazing) people have their head over the footy and when you run through a ruck like he does with elbows up and miss the footy, your bound to hit someone in the head
which is what hes done several times this year

dont believe me then watch his next game against the hawks

I don't think that is it at all. I reckon he comes through hoping to put a hip-and-shoulder, or small bump, to the players over the ball. This releases the ball from underneath them, allowing himself or another player to collect.

Nothing wrong with the strategy, except his timing is all wrong. There is nothing malicious in what he is doing, he just keeps going in too early and catching the head.

Hopefully this will show him what he is doing, and that he needs to stop it. One day, he will seriously injure somebody, and cost the team plenty.

We can push O'Keefe up the ground for the Collingwood game, and he can play Goodes role.

Well summed up Mase, but i don't think he will ever really hurt anyone. If this is what footy's come to its a joke.
There is now no need to stop girls playing footy at 13 they can just continue to play as they wont get hurt in the AFL

There is little doubt Goodes has been suspended in this incident, as a message to him. This incident alone is not strong enough for suspension.

Hopefully it will teach Goodes a lesson. I would rather him have the lesson now, than allow him to continue doing it and get suspended later on.

Funny that, I was thinking the same thing when I read about that young girl in the herald sun today!

no, the article on the young girl winning a decision to let her keep playing with the boys

got a link sounds interesting
love to see girls play with the boys
i was the only girl in my AFL team and i played for two years and play in a granny :)

Junior footy rules in VIC. say that girls must stop playing against boys in U/14,this girl has taken them to court and won,she played her 1st game of the season yesterday.
She will now be going into the draft in several years as by then there will be NO body contact at all.
And well done Soph a Premiership player at 12,never played in 1,these days you would have a scholarship for an AFL club, imagine on the list with schneides

damn. There is no way he will get off again. We will be without our best player for the biggest game of the season.

Actually, I just saw it again on Footy Classifieds and he'll contest it and they'll throw it out. The ball bounced on its point back into the Melbourne player. Goodes was running through intent on the ball and would have collected it if it had bounced predictably. There was absolutely nothing in it and the contact was minimal. The MRP are clearly reacting to the outcry after the Selwood incident. Shame on them.

Not quite, the panel said he SHOULD contest it, but we don't know what the club has chosen to do.

Latest is the club will sleep on it and decide tomorrow.. i think we should contest it. Pretty Confident that we will get him off absolutely nothing in it.

I personally think it's a good thing. Although he's going to miss the game against the Pies, in my opinion he needs a wake-up call to stop this undisciplined rubbish. In review, I think this was far less in all MRP categories than the Selwood one, but it was exactly the same type of incident as the Selwood one and he needs to have a week on the sidelines to correct his behaviour. I was a bit apprehensive to Roos' comments a few weeks ago, but now i think he was completely right in saying what he said. Normally I would be ropeable about something like this but I really think this could fix Goodesy's reckless mindset for the rest of the year and beyond.

Just my view on it.

I'd agree with you, except in this instance I dont think there was any undisciplined rubbish. He was clearly trying to collect the ball at pace and burst through the pack, like he does regularly. He was beaten by the bounce and glanced Bartram's head. A free kick for sure, but not reportable. The ump got it right. If it isn't thrown out it will only be because the tribunal is taking the other incidents, and comments like Leigh Matthew's 'protected species', into consideration.

The Selwood instance, there was a bit of malice in that one and the MRP did take a lenient stance. But I still think Goodes pulled out of that one at the last minute, otherwise Selwood would still be in hospital.

Actually, how did Steve Johnson get away with putting Selwood in hospital off the ball? Where is the huge throng of outraged Eagles fans crying out for justice?

They are still bunkered underground waiting for the cats scoring massacre to subside :D
