You have done a better job than I could have.
But if the saints draft a mid tier rated KPF and a half back flanker with picks 7&8, then I riot. I’m burning the place down.
(and likely all other saints fans)
Top end talent mids is our first, second and third priority. Not just mids, but great mids.

What do you mean KMF is likened to Rayner other than playing for the Jets what other similarities is there between the two?
Some stylistic and physical similarities, moves similarly, plays mainly as a high half-forward, short turning circle, quick hand to foot and a thumping kick.

Shanahan is not a mid-tier KPF. He is strong, clean, a lovely field kick and a strong pair of hands. I personally believe he is the best forward in the draft. A very good player.

Travaglia is a terrific character and will be able to play through the midfield. He's at home on a wing and has changed games as a third tall forward. Youre going to be able to pay Sinclair through the middle with impunity and Wanganeen-Milera and Travaglia will form one of the best half-back combos in the league. Steele, Dow, Windhager, Sinclair, Phillipou, Clark and Garcia gives you quite a few options through the center and Urquhart in the phanton is a clearance bull and ready to go.

The midfielders available to you might only be Reid and Smillie, both not the running types Ross the Boss tends to go for.

A Shanahan-King combo could be devastating long term and Travaglia is a quality player. Him Phillipou, Wilson, Hastie, Phillipou, Owens, Travaglia and NWM is a great group of versatile, athletic runners with X-factor and elite trait in every quadrant of the ground.

As a Pioneers sponsor, I approve your message.

Key forwards and half backs are low on our list of needs at the draft.

King 204cm
Sharman 193cm
Caminiti 196cm
Owens 191cm
Keeler 198cm

Plus Marshall 201cm, Wood 192cm, Phillipou 190cm rotating through. Training wheels should be taken off Max Heath 204cm who will likely play some games as forward/ruck.

Half backs

Sinclair
NWM
Stocker
Webster
Shoenmaker
Hastie
McLennan
O'Connell

We desperately need elite mids. Smillie and Reid will do nicely if the FOS/Lalor/Smith/Draper/Langford are gone. Maybe we split pick 8 into two later first rounders and take a tall with one of those, but there's no way we come out of the first round without a mid.

King is the only one who you listed is considered a key I agree that you need midfielders though.
I think your suggestion to trade Up is a good idea getting a Richmond or GWS to trade down getting another midfielders and a key positions player

I would be open to having a def/mid like Toby with the second pick, if we were to grab a mid like Smillie (or better if available) with the first pick.
Elite ball users are needed more than talls of any sort.
No point having a good forward line when our midfield can’t get the ball in there probably. That is our single biggest weakness. Quality F50 entry.
Also, Sinclair is a AA half back. Let him play his best position.

Would you consider the Saints have a good forward line?

Why not. They always need to be refreshed. Also Dodson is the best Ruck in this draft.

If we rated him as the best available talent, then maybe. But he's definitely not a list need and I'd wager that there are going to better options available come that selection.

I see Ruck as a list need but it comes after tall forward e.g. Faull, Whitlock, Shanahan etc and power medium forward e.g. Hynes, Barrat.
Ruck depth is vital. Meek's performance was a significant factor in our improvement. You certainly bank on talent as you say.

Caminiti is a big bash and crash key forward while Sharman is a lead and mark player who also flies for pack marks regularly. I'd say we have plenty of young developing tall talent in our forward line but could maybe use a mature, ready to go option. Our midfield is crap though and sorely lacking young talent

Man, what a write-up, amazing work.

I think Freo LOVE Lindsay and we'd pick him over any of the non-KPPs that fall through to that position but they definitely have been linked plenty with Berry as well. I'd be stoked either way.

Not that it makes much difference and you disclosed as much anyway but Freo are upgrading Worner apparently meaning only 3 picks but I would have preferred they go down your route and just take an extra stab in this draft.

Sit behind

Meek
Reeves
Ramsden
JUH

Ok then
Dodson is a conundrum of the draft. The club's rumoured to be interested in him are Richmond (who have Nank, Samson Ryan and have committed to two huge category B ruckman), Sydney (Grundy and they drafted a ruckman early last year) and Dogs (English, Darcy and they drafted Lachlan Smith last year). In relation to the Hawks, it's clearly a well-balanced list, you can look at it more from an asset POV and also he's probably three years away. Reeves might have walked for more opportunity, Meek will be 30, Ramsden probably more a support ruck, the others are projects. You've got good insurance and an asset probably you can spin for a future first down the track, worst-case scenario.
