Considering we have "easier" opposition this week, why are we not blooding Reilly this week. Surely we should be planning for the future too - ie. More likely to be a gun player than Mattner.

(BG - I reckon Mattner will be a solid HBF, but Reilly is a gun & should be fast-tracked).

If that proves to be correct then either Goody is not expected to front, or perhaps even more likely Shirley might be given a one week rest after his knock of last week.

Hear Hear!!!!!!

If Mattner lines up on Milne I am leaving the my seat and going to the bar.

Bode and Hentschel will play in SANFL. Hopefully Mattner follows their lead.

I agree that Mattner's form has been very good but nowhere near as good a Skipworth's. I would much rather play Reilly as he is more likely to be a gun. I saw his first goal for Sturt last week. It was ala Mark Ricciuto, 55 meters out, set shot at 45 degree angle. He is going to be a gun which is more than I can say for Mattner.

I would rather have Shirley in the team than Mattner. If the likes of Reilly, Doughty, Rutten and even Skipworth were given as many chances as Mattner, they would make the most of it.

I think he should play Mattner on Milne. Milne has been down on form lately and needs to run back into form. Mattner is the perfect player to do it on...........oh hang on I don't follow the Saints.

ADELAIDE
Backs: Edwards Hart Begley
Half-backs: Smart McGregor Torney
Centres: Burton Ricciuto Johncock
Half-forwards: Stenglein Perrie Ladhams
Forwards: Welsh Carey Burns
Followers: Clarke Bickley
Rover: McLeod
Interchange: from: Biglands Bode Goodwin Hentschel Mattner Rutten Shirley
In: Carey Goodwin Mattner Welsh
Out: Bassett (susp)

Bode and Hentschel are definetly playing in SANFL. Unfortunately Mattner will get another AFL game. Does anyone know the reserves squads for SANFL teams??????

On another note, it is good to see that Jericho will get a senior game for westies:)

Who is the other out?

Its out of Mattner Goodwin and Carey in my view

Most likely Carey.

So Welsh for Bassett
Mattner for Bode
Goodwin or Carey for Hentschell

I don't think Mattner will be out since he is not named for the Sturt side. Its either Goodwin or Carey

Anyone know if Rutten is named for the Westies reserves by any chance??????

Shirley is not named for the Eagles or the reserves.

This could mean 2 things:

* Carey won't play this week OR
* Goodwin will be given another week off with his wrist.:(

I was hoping for about 5 changes in the team. Our family was in WA last week, returned on Monday, and it's taken us until yesterday to feel we are back to normal time. I think that the Subi hoodoo relates to the time differences.

I think Carey must be doubtful as I cannot see how Rutten can fit into the forward line with Perrie, Welsh, Burns and Carey if they're all playing.

I would have played Reilly and Dogga because they would have been fresh and are quick. I was really hoping Reilly would get a chance as his contract is up this year and he may lean towards returning to Victoria if he thinks he may get more of a chance to make an AFL team there. Also, I think he would have been psyched up after his performance against the Saints earlier in the year.

Cheers,

a.j.

I agree. I reckon it would've been worth playing Reilly this week.

I feel that he will want to go back to Victoria at the end of the year, so (as you said) we should be giving him some opportunities now, and giving him more experience. I betcha if he was at the Kangaroos at the moment, he probably will be playing AFL footy, as most of his Calder Cannons team mates are right now.

Hoping he plays another good one for Sturt this week, then the crows might take notice of him and play him ;)

Would have been a good opportunity against the Saints to play Reilly ahead of either Mattner or Begley. The guy is all class & we should be trying to fast-track him (particularly against "lesser" opposition at home).

If i was Reilly, i wouldnt like my chances for selection this week. I'm listening to Sturt v Centrals on the radio and it sounds like Reilly has had a rather quite day (like most of his teamates i suppose) He has had a bit of the ball, but not enough to get noticed. :(
Sturt must of been missing Mattner. ;)

Actually Brent would have been close to BOG today for us. He was one of a handful that persistantly tried throughout the first quarter when it appeared others weren't willing too.
