Good coach who did a poor job if that makes sense. His match sense and tactics are great, his man management however
Will make a A grade assistant elsewhere. I think clubs will be falling over themselves to make him a defensive coach

What is the biggest winning margin in the last game for a coach sacked mid-season??
$1m is a fair chunk of soft cap, probably still trying to work with Goody on how many years they can pay it over. The tone of the presser depends on it.
There's been a few comments on the Dees board that are a bit over the top and classless imo.
Melbourne were going backwards and he had to go but Simon Goodwin has been the only Melbourne premiership winning coach of the last 61 years.
Someone wrote a post on the Dees board saying go and get effed Goodwin. Sure Paul Roos did a lot of the groundwork and laid the foundations for that premiership success, and whilst i wouldn't want him as Carlton coach the man deserves a hell of a lot more respect than that imo.

Had them contending in 4 seasons, better win-loss than Neale, Balme & Northey, still in the market for a second gig. The straight sets double in 2022-23 (all narrow margins) similar to Clarko in 2016 & 2018, probably meant he felt he had unfinished business and stubbornly stuck around. North, Carlton, Essendon & Saints in the next year or so should all consider him, and if he can bring a drought-breaker to any of those 4 (in addition to the Demons) he'll be in rarefied air. Imagine being an ambitious assistant now with the likes of Horse, Simmo, Ken, Bucks & Goody to potentially compete with.

The drug stuff was horrible, not sure if the coach made the players problems worse or vice versa, but the board and the parent body (MCC) have to carry some blame here.
I think a cricket club running a football club is untenable, maybe the MCC knows this and is kicking up dust with a messy departure to cover their own arses.

Carlton were a chance for top 4 this year. A few things amiss but so they were at Coillingwood 2021.
Essendon has a civil war on the board.
Melbourne are a medium sized club in the biggest sport in Australia being run by a cricket social club.
The most successful Victorian clubs of the 21st century Geelong and Hawthorn are medium sized clubs as well ironically enough.
