I thought users could generally install Chrome as it installs to the users profile, something you should have free reign over. If you can't.... there's always Google Chrome Portable

I am also using chrome but as my suggestion goes for firefox.
Firefox is best I liked it because of their addons .
while gchrome doesn't have. It also take huge processor which harms your computers speed

Doesn't Chrome auto-update anyway? Thanks for the link. Also there is a button combo that does this for the whole computer on Mac, I can't remember what it is though

I think it auto downloads the updates but you need to apply them ie. restart Chrome.

I tend to leave my Mac on for weeks at a time and build up a number of tabs, so don't restart Chrome that often.

I'm forever getting a 'Missing Plugin' error message when I watch YouTube videos. Refreshing the page makes the video play but it's still annoying.

It didn't seem that long ago that usage of Internet Explorer dipped below 50%. Well for the first time in a very long time, finally, IE has been dethroned as the #1 browser of choice, by Google Chrome of course. That is, depending if you believe the stats. Whatever the truth is, there is no doubt that IE is waning while Chrome use is surging. I guess the next milestone is when IE dips below use of FF.

It is a little weird that while IE's use has gone down, the next highest one Firefox has remained constant and Chrome has come up and taken over. I think that little memory rapeage problem has stalled FF's growth.

People are leaving IE and going to chrome or Firefox. People are leaving Firefox and going to chrome.. Net result is Firefox remaining stable, IE dropping, and chrome gaining

That's what did it for me. I was a keen user of FF and had barely dabbled with Chrome. Colleagues were on Chrome, but I loved the range of FF extensions. But since I made the move to Chrome I haven't looked back.

Whatever the real stats are, it would be interesting if this question was asked:
- If given the choice of browser to install, which would you choose?
- If you couldn't have your 1st choice, what browser would you choose?

I'd be interested how many people would not list IE as 1st or 2nd. Take out corporate SOEs and where would IE be?

My main problem with chrome at the moment is flash.. On my Mac it his the cpu something shocking.. Firefox handles flash much better. chrome is my preferred browser but occasionally YouTube will crawl to the point where videos aren't even playing smoothly, where Firefox pay fine...

The best part about Chrome is that you can type what you want to search in the address bar and goes straight to Google.

today i learnt (finally?) to save in .png due to its lossless compression. has anyone come across chrome's knack for compressing images? made my 15kb jpgs look blotchy, whereas larger pics file/physical size i might not notice.

does this compression account in any way for the better speed?

edit: well obviously that would account for some speed. but is it a good thing?

Does anyone use any bookmark extensions?

I use Bookmarks Menu by Oraz. It's not bad as I like the tree bookmark structure compared to the Bookmark Bar but I use to use a much better one called NEAT.

Does anyone know a good tree type bookmark extension?

just updated firefox on my MBP to 13.0.1.

I think i may migrate to this permanently until they at least think about fixing flash on chrome.

I'm getting the same lag on flash using chrome all the time mate, echoing your thoughts exactly. My macbook runs perfectly fine but I like to browse about 10 tabs at a time, and any time one of those is Youtube it just locks up every other tab. Often becomes unresponsive, sometimes even my itunes lags/pauses while playing music
