From where i'm standing, firefox has seriously closed the gap in speed over Chrome.
Resources were always the issue with me, firefox vs chrome and in the past chrome won... however a head to head of recent days reveals a far closer match thus far.
With that in mind, Firefox and it's extensibility is starting to pull away.........a bit like the way Android is moving streaks ahead away from IOS

I was for some reason considering switching from FF to Chrome, but that's a TOTAL deal-breaker.

I use Chrome and I like it, much better than Firefox
I noticed recently that this does work in Chrome now.
Type in comp, tech, 47 and this forum will be listed in the drop down.
I'm fairly sure that functionality was not there 3 months ago.

Another new Chrome feature improves the address bar by adding support for partial URL matches in your browser history. This means that you can type "web" in the address bar and Chrome will match "http://picasaweb.google.com" if you've previously visited the page, just like in Firefox. "The omnibox, Chrome's combination search box and address bar, has gotten much smarter in the latest release, making it even easier for you to get back to pages you've visited before. Just type part of the page's address or title and look in the dropdown for matching pages from your history," explains Google.

For those that want to experiment a little, type about:flags in your address bar.
There you will find experimental features that can be turned on or off, such as Side Tabs, Compact Navigation, Experimental new tab page, Add grouping to tab context menu, etc

It looks like it does the same thing as the Firefox about:config feature....
It looks a bit more user friendlier than Firefoxes though..

Is anyone else getting serious bug issues with it?
It won't snap screen properly, takes ages to start, freezes every over minute and still sucks serious CPU power.

The freezing is why I'm using chrome. I still think at its best Firefox wins but it just isn't that smooth any more, and chrome is much stronger than it was, it can handle pretty much all the downloads I throw at it.
On Chrome, adblocking, the two main ones that I've tried both seem to fail on video ads, any body else find this or just me? I'm normally pretty good at troubleshooting but I figured I'd let bigfooty answer me this one.

chrome awesome because you don't have to put www infront of everything. Allthough your search information get sent back to google (who have recently settled out of court on a selling info to third party dodgy drug company law suit)

Here's a tip for saving your session, while there are some session managers out there, in my opinion, none are as good as what you can get for Firefox.
Go to Preferences: chrome://settings/browser
On startup
Open the following pages:
Use Current Pages
This will save all tabs from all windows and open them all when you next start Chrome. At this point, you can go back into prefs and delete those pages or just change your startup setting.

Actually, you can type anything in the address bar and it acts as google search if it can't resolve it.

As far as i'm concerned, the more competition in this market, the more choice for everyone which results in a win win for everyone

Back to Chrome. Something that was bothering me was not fully understanding how the search engines worked. I'd used them occasionally, but mostly by sheer luck. So I thought I'd educate myself, and maybe this will be helpful to others.
There are various ways to get to the Search Engines, via the Prefs/Settings, right click the Omnibox or go to chrome://settings/searchEngines
You should see some Default search options, probably with Google as your default and some others such as Bing and Yahoo. You may have a whole heap of engines under Other search engines. In either section, to the right of each engine you don't want, click the x to delete them to clean things up a bit.
Apart from Google I decided the search engines I wanted are: Amazon, Bing, Dictionary.com, IMDb, Wikipedia and YouTube. These may already be in your list somewhere. If an engine you want is not there, go to the site and do a search. eg. Facebook
If I search for Microsoft, the URL is https://www.facebook.com/search.php?q=Microsoft. In the search engine list, add
Engine: Facebook (or facebook or Facebook.com, whatever is your preference)
Keyword: f
URL: https://www.facebook.com/search.php?q=%s
I don't think it makes a difference, but if you want to move an engine from the Other list to the Default list, mouse-over the engine URL, select Make Default, then go back to Google and make it the default.
To make things easy, I just use the first letter of each engine as the keyword: g(oogle), a(mazon), b(ing), d(ictionary), i(mdb), w(ikipedia), y(outube). To use any of them, in the Omnibox, enter the first letter, then a space, then the search term.
eg. To search for Australia on wikipedia, enter w Australia.
