Native apps now available for Android and iOS. I assume RIM is next.

Google says "Windows Mobile" in that compatibility table. Surely they're going to be making a WP7 app? Or are Google just out of touch?

My main bug bear with WP7 is not having all the apps that somebody with an iPhone could/would have. I still prefer the WP7 interface and experience however.

WP7 just isn't a priority for many developers. It's iOS and/or Android. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before WP7 is more at the forefront of the minds of companies and developers.

Makes sense. There is still a big gap between iOS/Android and the rest (RIM, webOS, WP7 etc)

The integration with the entire Google suite will put them way ahead of the game.

Agreed! One reason why i like it is because its a familiar look.

Facebook will have their work cut out for them for this reason alone IMO. I think the only way they could combat this is to try ot team up with Microsoft (who i think own shares in Facebook from memory? but could be wrong)

Tell me why this is better than FaceBook pls.
Depends what you want, but for me:

The Huddle function on phones.
The fact that no one can post to your profile, they can only comment.
Circles - at first I thought this was a waste, but cordoning off your family easily is a big plus.
No app games.
The fact that everyone (at the moment) on it is tech-savvy and not bogans playing games or reposting stupid platitudes and other crap.

It's your own fault if you have these kind of people on your facebook, not facebooks fault.

Add to the fact you can turn that stuff off.

I've never been heavy into social networking apps. Got a FaceBook account but never use it, created a Twitter account when it launched but never touched it since... just never felt the need to keep everyone informed on everything I am doing and any random thought I have.

Anyway... being IT employeed (and with geeky interests) I got a few invites to this and jumped in.

So far I am pretty impressed... it doesn't seem as "bloated" as FaceBook. A cleaner design and easy to use features (which feature in all of Google's products). Seems to have better control over the distribution of your social content.

cheers

The UX and integration of Gmail and the rest of the google suit is far superior to what facebook has.

This is the future of web people..HTML5, ajax and jquery!
