Yes, Agree with your point on Crosswell.

Barassi and Crosswell had a good friendship based on mutual respect.

Carlton won their first flag in 68 after a long drought - and Crosswell had a huge role in that too.

Seemed to follow Barassi from club to club. Im sure he went to North Melbourne and then followed him to Melbourne also.

Crossa, what a phenomenonal natural talent he was and I feel privileged to see him many times live.

Personally I liked his game more in the '68 GF where he was near BOG as an 18 year old, as he had the ball on the string that day too. And I loved the atmosphere and the roar of the crowd when he ran the length of the Gee to pick up Peter Moore in the '77 GF.

He was a great big game player and his final's performances would be only second to Wayne Johnston at Blueland.

Has anyone heard how he is progressing with his illness? It must be affecting as I haven't seen any of his insightful and amusing articles in the Age of late.

Barassi has always held Crosswell highly.

As someone who can only remember the latter stages of his career (playing for Melbourne) I could never understand why but he has a hell of a finals record.
He was well past his best when he at Melbourne and I am sorry that you didn't see him in his prime as the questioning of his playing ability or finals record would have never entered your head if you had of.

I believe he's coping with his illness but his articles were great and I bought the best sportswriting of 2004 which reprinted a lot of his articles.:)

Cheers for the update on his condition and I will do my best to see if I can get hold of a copy of that book on my next sojurn home Downunder.
