Well, I thought Goorjian and Gaze both have two titles. Seems Gaze is doing fine compared to the 'thang' man, I mean who cares if he keeps making the semis and grand finals, titles are all that matter. Heck, Smyth already has 2 championships and yet Goorjian is supposedly a better coach than either of them....lol

On an unrelated matter, I'm really happy Brett Wheeler left Adelaide to play on a championship team in Victoria..... Best decision he ever made

They do have ten but the fact is they have got to pick from a hell of a lot of talent.

And if I am not mistaken the last time the Tigers won a championship was 1997, beating the Magic. The Magic/Giants/Specters/Saints/Titans was 1996.

So we have a championship since them and we are currently ahead of them having already beat them this season

They also have the countries most recognisable club, the Melbourne Tigers.

And the 2 most important people in Australian basketball, Andrew and Lindsay Gaze

And I don't think the Kings are chokers. They never get into the big games

NZ has improved in leaps and bounds lately with 2 players even in the nba, smyth had been in the job only 8 months, he had a team that was rebuilding without gaze,heal,bradtke etc and we were in our off season so the players lacked match practice i know that that goorj clown with the speech impediment would have lost to nz too if he coached those games !

theres only one... and he's only played 13 games, and in both seasons at toronto... looking at his stats, he looks like a reserve for the bench! the cameramen sitting on the side of the court get more touches than he does..

geezz.. proves u know jack! without gaze/heal/bradtke... australian basketball simply does not have enough talent to beat (let alone compete with) NZ...

well its one more player than australia has in the nba ! Australia is rebuilding with youth, so average results should have been expected at first but those morons go and sack him and get in that man in black clown who cant even coach a "dream team" to a title !!!!!! hahaha

Losing to New Zealand was not Phil Smyth's fault. Once you take Gaze, Bradtke, Heal, Rogers and McKinnon out of a side you're obviously gonna struggle.

They are just about the countries 5 best players.

I don't vare who retired, who we didn't have in the squad. Australia's forth best team should be able to crush the Kiwi's. They are a joke.

Anyway, glad I got all that off my chest...and go Australia.

The Magic didn't work. They would have went bust without the merger. In the merger the Magic supplied the players, but the Giants supplied the money. The Magic went a whole season without a major sponsor and the merger was just as important for them as it was for North Melbourne

And personally, I would have much rather seen the Magic die, and the Giants stay. The Giants were a working class club who, unlike the Magic had tradition.

The Magic were also arrogant ****as, and unfortunately that carried on to the Titans

I's very easy to blame the coach, we always do it in footy, but to say Phil Smyth alone f**cked up Australian basketball is naive to say the least mate. A number of factors contributed to the poor showing by the Boomers, some were Phil's fault, some were the players, some were just the circumstances.

Phil Smyth can coach, make no mistake, two championships with Adelaide are testament to that and he's transformed our franchise into a perennial contender. Goorjian's not bad either, he's been in the coaching game for longer, and I grudgingly admit he'll help the Boomers, partly because he'll get a lot more support. It was no secret that Phil was not 100% supported in the job as head coach and it was never made easy for him.

We should have beaten the Kiwis, I agree, but don't look at Phil Smyth as the main reason for the loss. And to say Phil stuffed Aussie basketball is also just plain wrong. I hope you and everyone else can see that.

Glad I got that off my chest too.

Lets be honest
Phil Smythe was the worst coach in the history of the Boomers and once again, it's left to a victorian/melbournian to fix the problem. To be honest, Victorian teams have been the backbone of the NBL for all it's 20 plus years, we've won more trophys than any other states and lets face it, if Jase Smith wasn't injured we the Titans probably wouldn't have lost a game so far this year.
And Darryl Mcdonald without a doubt is the greatest PG in the history of our league EVER

How many teams have Victoria had in the NBL?? I think Adelaide and Perth have done well in representing their states by winning 3 and 4 championships a piece, so as for Victorian teams being the backbone.....

And let's not get into an "if this, if that" contest, I mean so what if you have Smith injured. Other teams have injured players as well, while some are playing with just one import. So don't make excuses mate, though as a Titans fan you'd be an expert at that after exactly how many losing grand final appearances now??
