I'd be very surprised if Goose left to chase big dollars as he is part of the group that have committed to each other to stay at St.Kilda & create their own history.

All of his mates have knocked back big big dollars to stay, I couldn't see Goose being any different.

And those fools that think he should be traded are just that. You do not willingly trade your best CHB, especially when he he just 23. Idiots.

Now this is where you put out a hypothetical trade to get him which is ridiculously in your favour. Something like Zac Dawson and a 4th round pick for Goose and our 2nd round pick.
I reckon we would be more then happy to give you our first round pick of 12 for him and a player like Tom Murphy or even a ruck like Simon Taylor. That would be more then fair.

I reckon if Maguire was looking to go, and I cant really see it happening, then a trade with North for a ruckman would be good for you guys.

Apparently Moran is annoyed at the lack of opportunities behind McIntosh and Hale. He is potentially a gun ruckman and could be a star with the Saints. Huge motor.

Leigh Brown looks like he may be on the way out as well. All North supporters are on his back and unfortunately he seems to be a bigtime confidence player...and has none currently. At his best he can play tall at either end, and can even tag running players like Pav through the middle

How does Moran and Brown for Maguire sound?

So a ruckman who isn't getting a game for you and a player who is on the outer for our CHB. Sounds great! Maybe we should give you Sam Gilbert as well just so it doesn't feel like we're ripping you off.

I dont understand your logic. You would be trading on Morans potential. He is only a kid. If you dont see any value there then thats fair enough. He will likely be a very good player. North will be trying to retain him im sure.

North traded away Mooney to Cats when he 'wasnt getting a game' (although he played about 2 mins of the '99 GF) and look at him now.......Its called potential

If we had any control over whether he goes or stays, there is no way a decision to trade him away could be considered even remotely sane. If you did consider it seriously then a mental institution would be a necessity - there would be no need for a frontal lobotomy, as clearly the whole frontal lobe is not functioning.

NO

NO

and NO.

Why does this thread even exist.

Goose is untouchable IMHO...unless if someone like the Western Bulldogs who are desperate for quality talls offered us their first round pick in the National Draft (pick 6???), plus Giansiracusa.

I don't think the Bulldogs would come to the party with that trade so I am very happy to keep Matty Maguire thanks very much!!!

reports are that there aint too many cookies left in the jar after signing Kosi and riewoldt to contracts that would give third world debt a nudge. We're having a good tilt at him and word is he's showing more than a passing interest. watch this space..

watch out for geelong to swoop on the former geelong falcon. it is reported that saints have sounded out former skipper steven king as a possible target during trade week. Maguire could be apart of this deal.
King anyone??

Where did all the talk about Maguire leaving come from? Has he said something to suggest it?
It's being driven by a combination of factors.

He's out of contract, he didn't finish the season in great form (which is entirely understandable given he was coming back from a horrific leg injury) and an influx of supporters to this board from certain teams who would desperately do with a key defender.

Unless he went to the club and said he wanted to leave this thread is just a hypothetical situation which isn't worth putting much worry into. Personally I'd read the draft and trading board if I wanted to read boring trade rumours.

Hypothetical situation so please don't bite my head off:

If Maguire wanted to leave to go to Richmond who have pick 1 in the PSD and can take him for nothing, would pick 18 or 19 be adequate compesation? It would at least see the Saints get something while also giving them 2 picks in the top 20 of the draft. You could quite possibly then snare a young KP defender like Collier or another young midfielder like Selwood or even snap up a young ruckman like McEvoy.

to answer your questions simply, no, that would not be adequate compensation for the loss of goose

Maybe it wouldn't be adequate but in the scenario Goose would be walking away leaving the Saints with no compensation at least this way you guys would get something.
