Macguire

Sainters,

I know this has been brought up in various threads, but i think it is important enough to demand its own dedicated one.

Can somebody please tell me what the hell is going on with talk of him wanting out? How can this possibly be after his injuries? Is it a fall out with RL, is it just utter sh!t?

Without Macguire I see very little hope next season, especially with the lion hearted Maxy starting to get injured more regualrly. We are already one tall back too few.

Let's face it, Macguire is one of the best CHBs when fit, and there are very few around. Without him we start to have a back line resembling the Doggies.

Updates please, this is seriously wrecking my day!

Re: Macguire

i know you said you really dont want to trade Macguire but what would you realisticly consider from Hawthorn as a possible trade.

Pick 12?
Would you be interested in Jacobs?

Re: Macguire

Trent Croad and Pick 12. I would accept that.
Now why would we trade a defender that is better than Maguire AND add in pick 12? Ludicris.. Not only that, we are trying to bolster our defence, that will weaken it..

Pick 12 and an untried youngster is the best youll get.. Thats paying more than hes worth too..

Exactly, which is why we wont be trading Maguire becuase it would weaken our defense. Pfft

In the event that Maguire wants out he will choose either the Tiges or the Blues because they have thrown massive deals at him and hold to club to randsom saying he will go to the PSD if he desnt get traded to th eblues or the tiges (where he will get picked up by the blues or tiges).

So the Hawks need not worry, Maguire will not be at the Hawks next year

Guess we'll have to keep him then

Opposition teams are saying 'maguire's no good' and 'he's not worth much in a trade' etc.. but then WHY the thread?!?!?

If he was so sh1t then why are all these clubs supposedly interested in him and why are all these supporters making suggestion of what to offer for him?!?

Turn it up.

He's a young gun CHB. Hard to find in the AFL. Would have come close to AA had he not broken his leg last year. He will be back to his best in '08.

Maguire is an imperative part of the stkilda spine for the best part of the next 10 years.

You guys would be mad to let this bloke go.
Exactly. Most stkilda fans realise his importance to us. A fit goose is just as imporotant as a fit Kosi, IMO.

He was a gun two season back, seldom lost (except when punched in the ribs behind play). The next match he thrashed Hall, before it was the fashionable thing to do week in week out.

If we lose him, we will have a horror season next season, mark my words.

If I was any other club though, I would be after him.

sorry to say sainters but i dont think u can afford him which is a shame coz i think he is guna be a future all-australian. Strong rumours suggest he is heading to Richmond and all we would probably offer will be pick 17 after u rejecting our offer of Schultz. You will probably agree to pick 17 as will we say if u dont wil wil take him in the PSD.

I can understand your interest, but pick 17 is not a fair price for a centre half back coming into his prime. Yes you've got the bargaining chip of the PSD, but Goose has to reject the overtures of the multiple clubs wanting his services (including St Kilda) in order to use it.

And I have to agree with Bulldogs_6 that offering Schultz for Maguire was also a long way from a fair trade.

The idiots on the carlton board think they are getting Goose. He is under contract isn't he? If he is not im sure he will re-sign and stay. A good pre-season will do him wonders, he will be a different player in 08 compared to 07. Imagine a fit Goose, a fit Max, Goddard, S. Fisher and Gram all in our back line, it looks oninous, and if i dont say so myself, no forward line would be able to stretch that backline.
That's the whole point, the 5 above are never all on the park at the same time. And it's not because of our Training Services, it's because our home ground is the roof of a car park. That stupid ground has destroyed us as far as injuries are concerned. We should move all of our 11 home games to the MCG.

All the more reason to keep Goose then?
BTW They have been, and will be in '08

No you won't because he will be in the PSD :)
Maguire is not going anywhere other than St.kilda. On the other hand you will have to change your name DeledioToTambling. From what I hear you are definitely losing Tambling. The sooky sooky la la is homesick and is going back to W.A.:D
