DWD, again you are saying that everyone does it, therefore it's OK, but you ignored my question:

How do you justify the fact that you are essentially getting an extra crack at the car compared to everyone else, but also that you are removing the element of backing yourself in from the game?

I'd be interested to see the other side of the coin to my thoughts (as posted above).

I think it depends on what you are chasing.

If all 3 are chasing overall then you have a point. However if one side is chasing a weekly win, another chasing a league win and one going for overall then I don't have a problem with it. Because all they are doing is having one crack at each prize on offer.

I mean say I have a competition with mates to win the league, does that mean I should forgo any chance of winning the overall? (yes I would trade differently for both).

For what it's worth I had two teams, one for overall and one for a weekly win.

There was some discussion in the preseason about his - DT actually consists of 3 competitions (league, overall and eliminator - not to mention weekly prizes) that each require the implementation of their own strategies to be successful at.

It was discussed that maybe there should be 3 competitions?

Maybe we should be allowed a different team for each one?

Unfortunately, this is not the case, and thus one team is the way to go.

Further to there being 3 different competitions, there is also multiple strategies to get to each of the competitions.

E.g
overall win - gun/rookie
overall win - mid pricers

etc

Can you imagine how crappy the prize would be if everyone only had one registration? There would only be 100,000 teams. Multiply up to your hearts content I say, make sure it is a car or cars each year not a club T-Shirt. Just only start one at rd one and don't get caught. Giddyup.

Speaking of the prizes...seems like the prizes for fantasy AFL in Australia are way better than any other fantasy sports prizes around the world? EPL is rubbish...NBA doesn't have much if anything...my question is why? And what sports am I missing out of trying to win money on people?

I reckon the prizes for DT should be better - there was over 250k teams (not coaches ;)) in 2009 from memory. Youd think theyd be able to sling a grand to each of the top 10, and a club membership to the next 10 (or something similar) - surely!

I think that might be a bit much, but I think the AFL could certainly chip in with a club membership for the top DT'er from each team supported. At least then people would stop pretending to be North Melbourne supporters :p.

If you think us Dream Teamers have it tough, spare a thought for the two million Fantasy Premier League players.

My reasoning is that if I had multiple teams I'ld end up with a whole heap of average teams rather than one good one. Plus I think it's a little on the unfair side. That is why I only have one team (which did fall on it's face this year).

Ok so maybe not top 20, but maybe top 5?

I like the idea of memberships for leading coaches from each club.

Not as bad off as EPL though are we!

I used to play an online fantasy rugby game where the prize for the weekly winner was $50 U.S - The grand prize was $100 U.S. My mate won the weekly prize - because he entered about 10 different teams as you are allowed multiple teams - a few years ago and it took him about a year to get the money. Most of the competitions (like tri-nations, 6 nations etc) on the site have no weekly prizes and only $50 U.S to the winner.

The site doesn't draw huge numbers as the super 14 competition which is by far the biggest competition normally only gets 20k participants but still i think its a very poor effort, especially when you have to wait so long to recieve your prize.

Hopefully they do this introduction retrospectively, if so then I will receive a Hawthorn club membership (been dying for one) as had the highest overall ranking out of all the Hawk coaches.

... man I really need to stop being a tight*** and just fork out the $100 odd, the problem is its cheaper going by the gate as I don't think I go to enough games to get a bang from by buck.

I've noticed the 'Fanplanner' gives us a pretty close look at what Dreamteam 2010 will look like, however, i was wondering when the AFL's official site gets up and going? Obviously after the drafts, but wasn't sure. When did it happen last year?

When does Dream Team 2010 start?

Will the player's prices be the same since last season ended? I came to that conclusion but have trouble believing it considering Ablett, Bartel and Corey were all up to about 500k from last year.
