Guys im having a massive problem atm.
Im playing no rookies in the FWD line at this point in time, if i was to downgrade one of the last 3 FWD players - gray, zeibell or danger, it will free up cash so i can help my rucks - kruz and tippet and then help out with either upgrading suban or barlow to trengove.

What do you guys think? I dont think there is a certain starter in any team for a rookie fwd this year.

Gee I'm helpful to you :)

If your not sure there is a certain starter don't do it. Wona just went down with a hamy (apparently) so there goes another option.

It seems like your having problems so I recommend posting your team up on the rate my team thread then maybe I could help you out a bit more.

Gumblton will be a certain starter, provided he does not get injured, but if he does than your whole team could be stuffed. At the moment I am starting with Rockliff on the field becasue it allows me to have six keepers in the fowardline and backline, but I am still not sure if he is in best 22. If selected round one along with a full brisbane team which includes Power then I think he is pretty certin to play at least 8-10 games. If this occurs I would be advising you to downgrade dangerfield and then upgrade Kruz, although all this depends on what the rest of your team looks like. You should post your team on the rate my team thread for feedback.

Gumby did well today.

Problem is not if, but when. So little depth though he has to be considered.

Surprised people are considering Rocky at 7, still not a certain starter. Which leaves even more doubts at 8 and 9.

And not just to cover Buddy Rd1, ongoing sustainability is the issue.

Fwd bench the weakest area by a stretch this year.

He is closer to a certain starter than you are implying from what I have read on the Brisbane board. Will atleast have a bench spot come round 1, even with Brisbane back at full stength it seems. Good for the first ten games I would think, and will be starting him as my 7th foward.

Back to random questions:

Does anyone have a spare league spot? If so visit the leagues thread as the Scumbags, a No Passengers league, has an opening.

I guess the question deserves to go in here... doesnt fit anywhere else.
I'm curious to know how everyone here goes about there trading when upgrading parts of their team. As in, which spots in your team would you choose to upgrade first? I guess it all comes down to the structure of your team but would love to hear someone elses take on this which will no doubt be more convincing/ insiteful :)

Pikey, it is a combination of:
- Upgrading your weakest player first.

- Upgrading when a starting rookie (or mid-pricer who you never planned on keeping in the first place) is at their peak value. So if your weakest player is your 2nd ruck, but your 7th back is valued well above what you predicted, then you should sometimes upgrade the back first and strike while it is hot.

- Timing the cheapest premiums based on BE's, upcoming rounds, injuries, etc.

In summary, try and make a trade that gets you the biggest ppg gain.

Simple. :)

Anyone else lucky enough to get picked to play against freako in DT this season?

how do the players value work during the season?? i know it's done on a 3-week rolling average but is it only the players last three games that are taken into account?? or does it slide down??

i.e. if Gary Ablett only averages 60 points a game for the first four rounds, and Tom Scully also averages 60 points a game. they'll both be the same value after round 4??

Nah, it's dependent on what their current salary is as well.

But if they continued to score 60 each, the would eventually meet. :)

You can have a play with this kind of stuff using the TooSerious calculators.
Here Ablett: http://tooserious.net/?page=player_calc&id=182&pcid=12358&comp_code=DT
and Scully: http://tooserious.net/?page=player_calc&id=778&pcid=12800&comp_code=DT

(Though technically, you can just click on the little calculator icon on the stats page to get their as well.)

cheers mate. thought that would be the case (seemed very redicolous that only 3 weeks take into account a players salary), but couldn't find anything on it.

good calculators too.

I am really interested to see how serious people are taking the Dual positioning rule this year?

If you can get 1-3 links in your team, you may need to settle on not having a couple of players however you go a long way in not having a zero for the year.

How many links to people have in their team currently?

I pay no attention to picking players based on whether or not they're duel-positioned. I've heard of people sacrificing better options to get another player just so they can flip him around different positions.

My view on it is that you should pick your team as you usually would, not favouring certain players just because he is duel-position (unless your heart is set on that player regardless). Once your team is completed to the best you think it can be, if there happens to be players that can be swapped later, thats just an added bonus.

Just my opinion anyway. :thumbsu:

Probably the most irrelevant post on this forum.. just thought it was funny that the Player Sub Forum does not have threads on Ablett or Zaharakis :D

Not sure if anyone has asked this:

Should the players that could play as true Utilities be able to be picked in more than 2 positions? Lynch, for example last year played Forward, Ruck and could possibly be argued a bit in the midfield. It might give more flexibility to the ability to substitute players between different positions.

Yeah I know, just noticed how it says players from Ablett to Zaharakis and there are threads on neither... Probably isnt used enough but definitely helped clear up the board.

Just having a browse of the rules and found this:
"NOTE that in the 2010 competition, players who are actually named and in the starting 22 for any match, AND score a 0 for any reason, will NO LONGER be replaced by an emergency. Their 0 score will also have an affect on their value, being recorded as having played a game. "

... so does this mean that when the teams come out, and a player is names, even if they are injured or withdrawn before the game starts, you emergency's score isnt used ?!

or does it mean that come game time if you player is listed as playing, and gets injured, say in warmup/first 30 secs, or just does utterly crap, that in that instacne his zero score would count?

Coz the first option would almost render emergency's useless wouldn't it..?
