Why the hell would you want a Richmond/Carlton player as your Captain?!?

Why not if you get a free look at your captain's potential score? In reality though it would probably only be Gibbs who was an option.

I've got Martin on the field, with a few Richmond players on the bench. Warnock is on my bench too. So i don't have any Carlton or Richmond premiums.

Gibbs is the only player who will score highly, but he will be tagged for this match. I also have it on good authority that Bartel and Riewoldt are pretty awesome

If you have a Scotland or a Carrazzo it is probably worth seeing what they score by setting them as vice. Both are capable of a big 120-130.

A) you probably shouldnt have any richmond,carlton players who are worth being captain besides maybe Carrazzo or Gibbs
B) How many points will you take for your captaincy for round 1. Lets say they score 110 will you take that. Everyone should have one of Ablett/Swan so i think they should score more than 110. Although i would probably just about take 110, but if you do and Ablett/Swan come out and score 150, you end up losing 40 points for being a smart arse and KARMA will come back to get you. DT gods are watching.

You could trade players around to set your Captain. It's hard to explain, but possible.

Anyone think Medhurst is a suckers pick? Am i reading too much into his preseason form. Looking at past scores he averages around 60 for the most part with the one season in 2008 where he averaged 87.

Just a random thought, say you have the standard Shuey/Bastinac mid rookies and both are not named. Do you
a) keep both because that's who you have decided on is the best choice or
b) trade out one of them for someone is named or
c) trade both of them out to players that have been named

Just thinking out aloud...this would've happened last year with Mitch Robinson..and we all know how that turned out.

thats an interesting question because we're not going to get the 22 players before lockdown. most people will find 3-4 players in their teams, even some on field, don't play...

in my opinion, you want to play 0 unsure players on field, so keep them to the bench. then when round one is finished, i would definetly add the rookie who scored well in round one, and replace him for who isnt named in round two, and to make sure you dont exhaust your trades, see how happy you are with how the rest of your team.

he could have another year with 87 because that was his only full year with the pies. also pies are set for a big year.

it depends on how many other players you have in the same boat who are risky.

the anser to that is simple. if you keep a tab on his scores, you can take care of him like a mother would. when he is doing well, you give him a pat on the back, bar frustrations when he isnt getting heavily tagged, or suffers a quad strain, you send him to the corner for misbehaviour obviously. then you wonder why he is in your team in the 1st place.

how are people working out what average ppg players are priced at?

Take their salary, divide it by their average from last year.

Doing that will give you a number that should be fairly consistent across all players.

You can then work out what the discounted players are priced at by dividing their salary by this number to give you their "average" from last year.

Though more simply, just read down the list on the trade page, a player is priced at a ppg that is slightly higher than the go below him, but slightly lower that the person above. They generally stick out like sore thumbs becausae last years average will do something like this: 61.2, 61.1, 60.8, 74, 60.2

Which combination is better:

Trengove (Port)/Maguire (Lions) - Bench defenders

&

Trengove (Demons)/Shuey (Eagles) - Bench midfielders

OR

Maguire (Lions)/Nason (Tigers) - Bench defenders

&

Trengove (Demons)/Jetta (Swans) - Bench midfielders

It probably seems a little trivial but i'd appreciate some thoughts. I initially had the first combination but have changed to the second.
