Rated well in my pre-race ratings and all things pointed to "needing longer" after its last start. Backed it each way today.

If Scenic Blast races I say get on. Great run in the Guineas. Never going to beat winner but covered a lot of ground and ran good 2nd.

Thought I might bump my own thread from pre-VRC derby.

I haven't seen a lot of racing for a few weeks but I did see Australian Cup day.

Again I think Littorio might be the horse to beat in the AJC Derby.

Watched him go around at $81 on sat'day, sat out the back in a race way too short for him and saw him make up a good 10 lengths over the final 400/500m.

IMO he should have won the VRC Derby, he got held up and the winner got away, he had to fight his way out of a pack and went to the line better than the winner.
Now out of the AG runners I doubt many will head to Sydney, he will and he will be around the 20-1 mark.

IMO...Scenic Blast will never race beyond 2000. Most Scenic's prefer a mile as their pet distance

Not entirely sure but I think I heard somewhere he's resting, which I think is a pretty good idea. That said Littorio has really kept his form if not improved and I trust Blackiston as a horseman. Hope these two and Guillotine and Largo Lad can turn it on as open age handicap staying types.

I think that was largely because he had already had the 2000 metre run and was crying out for 2400.

I think he looks a good thing at Randwick over 2400.
