Watched the Under 18’s at Echuca on Saturday and was impressed with the skill set the Murray Bombers brought to the game. Very good foot skills and they carried the ball well. Ran over Bulldogs after half time. Highlight was the hanger that a kid called Riley Clarke took inside fifty. He had a go at a few and finally held one, but what a ripper it was. He also played a solid game.

Only played footy at Assumption, Calder and maybe United thirds last year. He was injured with significant ankle injury at times. Pretty sure he didn’t play seniors but don’t TAC boys attract 4 points in any case?
4 points allocated to a young TAC kid.. What a joke is this points system.

AFL Vic need to get around to the grass roots of local and country footy instead of sitting in corporate boxes and drinking champagne..

Not a huge fan of the points system, but certainly agree with slugging extra points to TAC players changing clubs within the same league. Definitely want a deterrent for clubs poaching TAC players from rival clubs

only if they play enough games .
He would have only needed a permit to play at assumption and tac which is normally the case.
If he was cleared from a club(united) who Tat plays against he'll accumulate an additional point.
Don't need a permit to play at Assumption, play 5 games in TAC and your a 4 pointer unless your playing for your junior club (min 40 games)

I think this weekend coming has got some interesting games.

Benalla vs Seymour is interesting. Benalla has dropped compared to previous years and I had Seymour up there was surprised that they got rolled by Golden Square. I do think They have too much class for the Saints.
Shepparton vs Rochy- I think this the game of the ground. Bears I hear were good on Friday night and I think bears has got the match up agianst the tigers. I think the Tigers will drop a bit compare to last couple of years.

Euroa vs United- Euroa at home is too strong

Swans vs Mansfield- Swans do play well as home but Mansfield has got the cattle as the Swans not got much.

Mooroopna vs Kyabram- I think Ky but Mooroopna does lift when playing at home

Thanks Oz....good stuff but I think the Mooroopna boys might want to start now if they are to beat or push KY. Seymour product Josh Prudden has been announced as co-captain of the VFL Dogs. Super effort considering the injuries he has sustained over the journey. Might mean he won't be seen to often in the Lions colours.

Euroa’s Will Hayes and Lauchy Dalgleish also named in the dogs leadership group. Shame so many good players in the comp that won’t be seen much at all.

Nice work oz. I agree Lion's Seymour boys need to beat a potential contender in the Saints.
The young new look Tigers will find last year's runners up far too strong.
Euroa, Mansfield and Kyabram to win the others comfortably.

Would think that the GV side would be able to fill a team wth ex AFL and current VFL payers....now that would be a side worth watching.

Would be a fantastic side you would’ve thought, could probably fill a side purely on those names and a few more VFL players and then the 6 best GV players like Cole, Martin, Clifton etc.

Games on the MCG, surly that will promote inter league footy this year to get all the big names to play. GV can’t afford to drop down again, what are we ranked at the moment? 8 or 9?

Guys, thought I might change it up a little bit this season and give/ask you guys a weekly question or statement and get thoughts off everyone. Might be related to past players, current players, match of the round and anything in between.

This weeks weekly question....

Player match payments in the GV. What do we think the average pay for a local GV footballer would be?
Most clubs base payments would be around $100-50 I would imagine, with some clubs having players up to $1200 I would imagine.
What are your guys thoughts? Just a thought that come to mind.

To work out a rough estimate of the average player payment, could you just divide the salary cap by 20 players?
You can soon work out why clubs are finding it hard to recruit Melbourne players when their leagues can have $100k bigger salary cap!

$180,000 divided by 18 games = $10,000

So clubs can spend $10,000 grand per game. Divide that by 21 players which equals $475 roughly.........

Did I do that correctly??

Seems fair enough math to me but that was never my strong point! Just thought it would give a tough idea. But yeh $500 on average per Plato’s probably right, as some would be on $1200 as you suggested, but others just on fee per win/loss which could be $200

Is ringo1 of holidays ?

People who feel an urge to correct other people’s grammar are actually suffering from a form of OCD: Grammar Pedantry Syndrome.
Apologies lads.....GPS and another diagnosis of PCM (Points confuse me) have got me!

Nice Fraudian slip by me with the term “Plato” instead of “player.” Yes Ringo will be resting his brain from such complicated problems, especially when his calculator was left on his desk ;)
Haha no holidays for Ringo ...still working boys. I am looking forward to this weekends matches. Hopefully the great standard from the Echuca V Tat game continues. Am I allowed to also pump up Outside The Locker Room on here boys? Opps...too late!
