Goulburn Valley FL 2020

Well the metro comps have plenty of points to fit them all in g, if they're not 1 pointers already.

I see a couple of coaches are really keen to play in goosey from the Mornington league and Robertson from Geelong, who think clubs should be trying harder.

Also a nice little article in the leader regarding mental health and not playing.

Will guys in the vfl think of going across to the SANFL to play ringo?

And no VFL means a few more issues for metro football and country football if they play.Know of one EDFNL club with approx 16 VFL/TAC guys on their list and all available to play for this club makes it hard.

Yes spot on again, the trainer at Lancaster this year. Apparently I was about to be nominated as our Covid Officer. Dodged a bullet with this one.

That is an interesting point as who would ever become the Covid-19 officer. I preface my post with: I am not a lawyer specialising in Insurance claims.

While I am sure they are covered by some AFL public liability clause, what happens if a 65 year old volunteer picks up Covid at a club and dies. (Say there is a small cluster) As we know our friendly insurance companies investigators are welcoming in disasters such as bushfires and floods.

I simply see the role as a potential 'point of blame' for health insurance company investigators to point the finger at and say we are not paying because clause A, B and C of deemed procedure in a declared pandemic were not pursued with appropriate acumen by the Club Covid officer = point of blame.

Is Paul Hawke the ex Sydney Swans player, if true I am now on the Shep.Swans bandwagon.

That’s him, sounds like you’ve found your team. Just had a good read of his bio, Runner Up in the 1989 Copeland and then never playing another senior game for the Magpies. The. Returned to Sydney for 1991.

He’s been a GV staple for many years now.

One of the reasons Lalbert pulled the pin on the season is because they would need many people trained in the COVID officer role in order to get trainings underway and the fact that the league could not guarantee that the role has no legal liability

"Legal liabilty" covid officer I am also hearing is a issue and the insurance.Just hearing the news tonight and this b covid 19 now being found with a couple of our kids at our schools is a worry.

Meanwhile in WA they have been approved for full training of contact sports and eased gathering restrictions to 100 with exemptions of 300 if they can be segregated. Your move Dan!

How are leagues alleviating these concerns of clubs roar? Why can't league officials be the covid officers for games?

WA is completely different to victoria, you can't compare them. Look at the size of Victoria compared to the wa and then the difference in population and density of population and add on the fact that wa have closed their borders

How can Dan move with these new cases appearing?

Schools will be a nightmare to police

No legal obligation upon covid 19 officer unless they deliberately and knowingly spread covid19, which would
apply to any individual .
The purpose of the role is for education , keep in mind it is a afl protocol , not legal
or state or federal rule or requirement .

Then why can’t leagues or insurers guarantee that? The purpose of the role is not for education..it’s to make sure clubs that choose to operate abide by the rules

Mate they really have nowhere to go. The quarantine restrictions mean they have to sit at home for 2 weeks and then play for nothing and get employment or a Uni course. The August 1 date aligns with the WAFL. I think they are hoping crowds might be back by then. glad you liked the article mate.

Part of affiliation with AFL Vic is insurance which has confirmed cover .
The legal binding rules are set by Federal / state government . 20 or 40 groups of ten people can train without a ‘covid officer ‘ and providing they are following state rules they are not breaking any law and can’t be prosecuted .

Well I can tell you that is not what I’d bring told to clubs all over the state

Can anyone confirm.
As of today.
Exactly what GV football clubs are training.
seymour are not, because Mitchell Shire won’t allow them to yet.

MAV the liability insurer for many councils sent a letter to councils , via JLT, Thursday a bit over a week ago outlining the state governments rules , which had some councils concerned and referring it for legal advice .
To the best of my knowledge the councils are asking that their user groups follow state requirements and in the case of football / netball follow afl Vic and netball Vic protocols.
The unusual thing is if it’s not a gathering sanctioned by a user group, they only need to apply to state rules not afl Vic or netball Vic protocol.
NSW councils have put out feelers about progressing things a little quicker . Eg offering to host games with crowds if or when NSW state laws permit , whilst Vic don’t which would mostly likely mean AFL Vic protocols won’t .
As to your question in training from what I’ve heard or read , Mooroopna , Rochester , Echuca and Shepp United either have trained or are looking to train from June 1.
