Interesting conversation tonight was with 2 mates who are from different Club's. One of the boys has the mail that those League's that want to play will have to start with 100 and then it will extend too 500 after the first few weeks ( The Crowds) One of them said it would be curtains for his Club didn't think they would start with so few being allowed at the Footy even if the Crowds got bigger as it went on. The other who is a Committee Member at his Club had completely the opposite view saying they were in a position to take what he thought was a small hit for a few weeks but then would be in a position to actually make some money by the end of the Season and post a profit. He said with bugger all going out in match payments and some Sponsors/Members still kicking in plus gates as it goes then he said his Club normally makes 6 to 7k from a Presentation Night and they make money out of the Vote Count being a seperate function as well. So I guess that's why we have had some League's pull the pin and some still keen to go ahead. Next Monday's announcements will be interesting.
If 500 plus people turn up to watch a game in contravention of government rules, just call it a protest and all will be OK.

Still so much ahead which we are not sure of.

1 Will all clubs play as you mentioned.
2 What restrictions with crowds/social rooms etc, pretty sure none of us will know including the government by the end the month.
3 What happens if a season starts and a player is diagnosed with covid 19.Does that mean both teams have to go into isolation for 14 days and what happens to the fixture.
4 Players coming from a non playing league to say a playing. GVFL.Surely would have to be a permit for the 8 games but what about the existing players in a team, will they get a game.

So many questions and not sure any of us have got a answer that will please all of us.

Not sure how any league can proceed with only 20 allowed in the change rooms?

Stupid comment and surprised with the likes you got.Basically it comes down to any restrictions at all by the government which are still there mid July call the season off. What is the use of playing 8 games and do you mind play a finals series.Sure agree that it gives the young guys a chance of playing a game they love and all of us but playing 8 games and risking the financial future of some of ourclubs is not worth it.

Take a chill pill Voice of the G. Aren’t we allowed some light hearted, tongue in cheek banter on this forum?

Assuming you are potting me. Surely humour is still allowed on a Big Footy forum in this particular context mate. We are talking about footy crowds.

If you want to make the conversation about current political matters and social unrest this isn't the platform.

If you have a problem with me 'liking' the post you had best pm me.

Yep and increase in community transmission, however

After the increased number of cases registered today, do you think we are being a bit premature with returning to play. Victoria is certainly in a worse position than most of the other states at this time in regards to numbers of people diagnosed so perhaps the Government may continue to be fairly conservative in their approach.

Interesting to note the Sunraysia FNL has decided to commence and the Horsham District FNL has packed things up for season 2020. One of their considerations were the commitments of farmers which is something that may be a consideration for other leagues.

Looks like more leagues wont be playing in 2020 than will be.
14 of the 20 new cases were returning travellers, and one a security guard at one of the hotels where returning travellers are isolated

I hope not. Just struggling to see how its viable?

Me too..... but you “hope not” and where there’s hope there’s light. If we strive for nothing then that’s what you get. Yet sometimes you have to realise when your strives are wasted energy. So many different opinions but all sharing the same passion..... football.

I have a big sniff of a past poster about this...coming from the Tatura area. I think some people think we are stupid lol.

What an opportunity for the Gm region .

If people’s concerns about bars , canteens and crowd sizes are positively answered over the next week , imagine how big football and netball could be in this region over the next 2-3 months .
I certainly get and accept the varying anxiety levels amongst people , however this season provides the brave with massive opportunity , packed grounds , with people flocking to just play reserves , thirds .
It may very well be the opportunity some have needed to survive or prosper long term .
The GVL may return to the premier comp in the state for the foreseeable future on the back of the next 3 months .

I can’t believe you have stated it’s about being “BRAVE”...this is absolute crap....it’s all about being SAFE. Nothing more, nothing less.

As a follower of this forum from south east Queensland, infact my clubs coach is an ex Shepparton boy,I wouldn’t be pulling the pin just yet unless Ofcourse it is totally unsafe.86 out of 89 footy clubs have agreed to play the short season that 2020 will be and the numbers on the training track of all grades including juniors has been so positive.Yes there are protocols to adhere to regarding training and playing but so far no more work than in normal conditions as a volunteer.Bars are open and whilst it’s not anything like this time last year, footys back and people are loving it.As a ctee member I’ll admit we were pretty pessimistic about playing this year but on the back of a full club survey 85per cent of our players, members, volunteers, sponsors and supporters said yes and I’m glad they did!

I think its fair to say he stating his opinion, and that being 'brave' at the moment isnt the priority, being 'safe' is...
As did I . Like right you take every chance to have a crack and your issue is obviously personal so why don’t you address it outside BF ?
Funnily enough you never acted like this when we were on opposing sides ?

I simply see it as two blokes who are invested and passionate about footy that strongly disagree about the issue of Co-vid19 and footy. I'm not the Premier, or the Chief medical officer so I dont know what might transpire. However, posters should be allowed to disagree.
