Nothing new. Wish it would extend to Qatar thus cancelling the WC2022. That would be hilarious.
Olympics, Copa America and WC Qualifying all in 2021. Be a great season for Australia.

We'll find a way to stuff it up. It's inevitable.

Socceroos coach Arnold could quit for K-League role
Socceroos head coach Graham Arnold could leave the national team on Wednesday due to an enticing offer from K-League giants FC Seoul.

a Staff Writer Oct 20 2020 3:46PM
The Age is reporting that Arnold is frustrated with financial cutbacks to the Socceroos from cash-strapped FFA and the lack of matches the team will play this year.

There have been two possible friendlies against USA and England in the pipeline, however both remain uncertain due to COVID19's second wave across both nations.

His agent, Tony Rallis, said: "There have been two offers that Graham has received but we are not in a position to comment on them now."

Arnold is reportedly reluctant to leave the Olyroos after leading them to Tokyo Olympic qualification for the first time in several years.

FC Seoul, who are one of Korea's biggest clubs but finished ninth last season, expect Arnold to make a decision this week, which could leave the Socceroos managerless as soon as Wednesday, October 21.

Socceroos games galore on fox today one after another. Great times. Love the 2015 final against Korea. Great to win that cup on home soil.

If you have to lose an international season or two this just doesn't feel like the worst time for it to happen for the Socceroos, so few Australians playing in competitive leagues. Looking forward to being excited about the Socceroos again.

Well this is a bummer but with all the qualifiers coming up the right call.

Socceroos forced to withdraw from Copa America tournament

The Socceroos will not participate in this year's Copa America after the coronavirus pandemic forced changes to their 2022 World Cup qualifying schedule

Key points:
  • Australia and Qatar were invited to participate in the South American tournament
  • The Socceroos' next World Cup qualifier will take place on March 30 in Nepal
  • Copa American will take place from June 11 in Argentina and will finish on July 10 in Colombia
Australia's withdrawal comes after the Asian Football Confederation moved forward several international dates.

The tournament, which will be hosted by Argentina and Colombia in June and July, would have been Australia's first appearance at Copa America as one of two guest nations along with Qatar.

The Socceroos' next World Cup qualifier will take place on March 30 in Nepal, before the second round gets underway in June, with the remaining three matches potentially played on home soil.

Football Australia chief executive James Johnson expressed his regret about withdrawing from the oldest tournament in international soccer.

"It is with great disappointment that Australia cannot feature at the Copa America in 2021," Johnson said.

"Regrettably, the international football calendar, including our FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualification schedule, has been significantly disrupted over the past 12 months by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"On behalf of the Australian football community, I would like to thank CONMEBOL for their warm invitation to the tournament, as well as their continued dialogue regarding our participation over the past year. We would also like to thank AFC and FIFA which supported our invitation to the tournament in 2019.

"To have participated in such a prestigious competition and to experience the unique South American football culture would have been a thrill for Australian players, staff and fans alike. We wish CONMEBOL every success in the delivery for the Copa America and remain hopeful for an opportunity to participate in future editions of the competition," he said.

Socceroos head coach Graham Arnold echoed his disappointment.

"The Socceroos' players and staff were greatly looking forward to the unique opportunity of playing in the Copa America and it is unfortunate that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be unable to attend in 2021," Arnold said.

"On behalf of the team, I thank CONMEBOL for the invitation, which would have presented our team with a fantastic opportunity to test itself against some of the world's best."

The 47th edition of the Copa America tournament will kick off on June 11 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and will finish on July 10 in Barranquilla, Colombia.

All Socceroos World Cup qualifiers have been postponed till June when the matches will be played at a central hub location.

Socceroos trip to Nepal off
Foxsports

The Socceroos’ March 30 World Cup qualifier against Nepal in Kathmandu has been postponed.
Due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19 on travel, the game – as well as Australia’s other three remaining matches in the current round of qualifiers against Kuwait, Chinese Taipei and Jordan – will now be played between May 31 and June 15 as part of a centralised format.
Australia had been due to host Kuwait, Chinese Taipei and Jordan.
Where the centralised format for the remaining Group B matches will be held is yet to be determined.
“With FIFA having expanded the June window to allow for international matches from 31 May to 15 June, we will need to utilise that period to complete our remaining Group B fixtures prior to the June 15 deadline,” Football Australia CEO James Johnson said.
“We remain committed to the restart of national team football in a COVID-safe manner as soon as possible, and will work with AFC and FIFA, as well as the football associations of Nepal, Jordan, Kuwait, and Chinese Taipei, to play out our remaining qualifiers in a suitable location.”
The Socceroos – who lead Group B by two points and have a perfect record from four matches – last week withdrew from this year’s Copa America due to the backlog of World Cup qualifiers in June.
