I liked what I saw last year and I think Terry did too... mark him down as a champion!

I think he'll play alot of football for the Richmond Football club. Young rucks just take time. who knows he might even get a run in the forward line this year because of injuries or match ups.

He'll be fine , Cartledge is a back up for when he is injured not for if Simmonds is injured.

much prefer giving gametime to gus & putt that cartledge........ he is slow & crap imo will be gooone come season end I hope

I think he will be pushing to be no2 ruckmen by the end of the year

Only if you think Pattison will be no.1. Pattison has looked extreamly good so far in the pre-season and could be a darky for a top 5 JD finish. His tap work has gotten alot better. Has looked better then Simmonds in the two games i've watched so far:thumbsu:

:)Simmonds and Pattison will share the ruck duties each week.

Only way Gus will get a look in is an injury to either....or if those two have a sudden and dramatic loss of form.

Gus is worth persevering with, but he will bide his time ta Coburg IMO.

I have inside info that Gus tests well and has all the attributes to make a genuine afl ruckman. I think we might be pleasantly surprised by his progress if he is fit this year. I also think the Patto will get the axe if he is fit. He is not heavy enough to play ruck and i suspect he is too slow to play kp

As bigstyletiger said Patto isnt quite big enough for a genuine ruckmen and not quick enough or a good enough grab to be key position. I would rather Polak or Schulz play CHB. Hope he proves me wrong but I think he may struggle to hold his spot later in the year.

I really hope Patto finds a permanent spot in our team. Showed great determination last year against some very capable seasoned ruckman and I loved his around the ground work.

He'll play a few this year whether or not we have injuries to Simmonds and Patto, but not enough games to select him on SC or DT, and besides, he's a pure ruckman, not a giant mobile follower.

Longer term, it'd be folly to underestimate a raw Tassie boy who has come as far as he has in a short period of time.

Pattison will inevitably forge a pretty handy AFL career, be it as a first-string ruckmna, back-up ruckmna or forward of some description.

Why? Heart and desire!

Could not help but be impressed with his 2007 season when thrown in at the deep end.

He'll make it because he wants it that much more than most everyone on our list!!!
