Controller here too, ended up switching to the above cockpit view to pass, couldn't see enough with bumper or in car cam.

Also I vote we set up a bf challenge, something like full nurburgring, day and fine weather, and an old car, like the stratos, say sports hard tires and see what times get posted

Have put 150km on the rb x2010 solely trying to pass goodwood. ****.

Have learnt 2nd gear for the start, and it has an exhaust blown diffuser so cornering is nigh on impossible to get comfortable with. I feel your pain now NSWCROW

Is that red bull still as crazy to drive as it was in GT5? Just keeping it on the track was a challenge!

Never got it in 5, but yeah, of my 290km of Goodwood attempts, 80% prob never got past first corner, I only actually finished 4 runs (bronze, 2 silvers and gold).

Saved the replay of gold cause I'm never doing it again, madness!

That's dedication! I've been going for gold in all my license tests due to OCD, not sure if I should apply the same standards to the red bull challenge...sounds like it will do my head in!

Finally purchased this game. :thumbsu:

Currently doing City Trials in National B.

For a couple good starter cars:
1) Go to seasonals and finish the BMW M4 Challenge, if you get gold you win an M4. (M4 > Honda Fit :D )
2) Get the AMG VGT from the vision GT section.
3) Hang on to the stupid Honda it forces you to buy until you pass the Honda Fit seasonal. I should really sell mine now that I've done it but I'm hanging out for a "Burn" option in a future update.

Before I can do Seasonals I have to get a National A License. Got the Merc from Visions GT and took it for a spin around Bathurst and kept losing it at the end of conrod straight :D.

DrKrieger what is your PSN?

I almost had it worked out... not really but anyway.

More power at high RPM increases downforce, I found the only way to get around a corner quick was to brake and turn, then downshift and full power for max downforce, but if you turn too much, the natural reaction is to back off and turn the other way, which as far as I could tell means you lose all ability to change direction and see the words "DISQUALIFIED" on the screen. Again. For the 74th time that night.

But yeah, the damn thing doesnt seem to work except at high RPM and lots of throttle to keep the grip up, with braking/downshifting to add weight to the front wheels to help turn.

Does anyone else find the karting events to be a bit tricky?

I'm doing the second set of events (the last I need to close out National A I think) but am struggling on the 2 smaller kart tracks (going for gold in all events). I find I either don't have enough straightline speed or I spin out on corners easily.

At the moment, I barely use the brakes (preferring just to de-accelerate and glide through corners before stepping on it again once I've straightened out).

Doing my head in!

Struggled a bit with the junior ones, I'm avoiding buying a kart so haven't done the orhers.

Same issues, avoid ripple strips under power, and if you're stuck do a race following the AI and then do what they do but with less braking.

Yeah, definitely try and avoid the ripple strips as I 9/10 times end up spinning and can't make up the time lost.

I might try shadowing the leading karts as well - thought about playing around with the kart set up (seems to be 3 different settings in the pre race set up in driving options).

if it's the open arena kart track , i pretty much just dabbed the brake whenever i wasn't in a straight line

Interesting, so you dabbed the brakes when cornering NSWCROW?

I believe I read the kart has rear brakes (which might be why I find it harder to control?).

Drafting/slip streaming seems to be key on the straights, I think the corners are where I either make up/lose time. I read on another forum that someone suggested 'sliding' when cornering - that could be another option but I suck at drifting so that might cause more problems than it solves! :p

I also recently swapped the controls so R2/L2 are accel/brake, and Right stick up/down is gear up/down, I find it seems to work better once I re-align my brain with it, and easier to use less than full brake/power.

Yeah but it was more a " tap-tap-tap " kind of braking
Took me a few goes to win that last race

Ah yeah, that might be worth a go (though might take some time to re learn the controls!). I have a friend who did that on GT5 and he preferred that system as he had more control of the throttle.

Nice, might try that then.Should hopefully mean I don't lose too much speed or control from the sudden stopping momentum of the cart.

I remember seeing a guy win a kart event in GT5 by driving the whole race in reverse! I wish I had that kind of talent lol.

The straighter you can keep your kart the better. And be as light on the steering as you can. Using R2 and L2 for Acc and Brake are good because you can ease on the power.
