This is why I dont see the whole Marlon Pickett debuting and winning the Grand Final as 'one of the great stories' as many commentators keep trying to pump up.

Nick Riewoldt, a guy who gave everything to a club and carried a team for decades, finally winning a flag would be a great story. Nathan Buckley finally winning a Grand Final after all that he lost is a great story. Dale Morris winning a premiership with a broken back after thinking he missed his chance and stayed with his club while it rebuilding was a great story.

A guy getting lucky enough to be selected in an already great team that would win no matter who the 22nd person selected was is not a great story. It's just dumb luck and a timely reminder how unfair football is.
