Not going to lie - the Fox movie (dancing on thin ice) was pretty average
The way they presented the GWS final was absolutely bizarre - no focus on the gravity of the comeback, awful music choice etc.
Felt like me and my mate having a chat about it all after a few beers.Unfortunately I felt it was a flop of a production as well. It felt rushed, underwhelming and lacked polish. There were some really strong grabs (sound bites) but the whole structure and production felt cheap and poorly assembled. Pull it apart, put VO in there and find an editor who can choose a score that gives the memories some gravity.
Haha yes. Tbh I’ve had goose bumps in the past with some of my mates recounting that grandfinal day over beers. How did FOX get it so wrong ?Felt like me and my mate having a chat about it all after a few beers.
Underwhelming , on the cheap.
Pound the Rock was pretty good.![]()
'Pound The Rock': How Fagan's Lions defied the odds to win the flag
Watch 'Pound The Rock', the 2025 AFL Season Launch film that goes inside the Brisbane Lions' stunning 2024 premiership victorywww.afl.com.au
Pound the Rock was pretty good.
Captured the emotion much better. Enjoyable.
I thought the little snippets of Fages addressing the troops and Oscar , who really is one of nature's gentlemen, getting some air time really made you appreciate why we managed to pull it off.The Fox one was fine relative to the resources and time that was clearly provided by Fox to put it together.
The AFL one pipped it for the reasons expressed by Tom and the behind the scenes audio.
Appreciate the ongoing love, guys! I'm too jealous to watch these because I'm bitter thinking of all the things I could have done with that 4k game footage, behind the scenes footage and interviewsHate to say it but I agree, very average as far as documentaries go. sleepylion hands down the best.
Your doco was the best by a mile!Appreciate the ongoing love, guys! I'm too jealous to watch these because I'm bitter thinking of all the things I could have done with that 4k game footage, behind the scenes footage and interviewsJust kidding, it was my 25th birthday yesterday, so I was busy eating cake but I'm keen to watch both of them today.
One thing I'm glad about is that I focused my movie on the full decade before - I feel like it makes it unique to anything put out by Fox, AFL or the club and will keep my video relevant despite new premiership content. I hope so anyway lol

Totally agree with the above. Pounding the Rock slightly better, Dancing on Thin Ice totally underwhelming.
I was hoping that there might be a bit more footage from inside the rooms shown, or more of Fagan addressing the players. The parts I enjoyed most were his words - sitting on the bench talking to Harris, addressing the players at quarter time etc.
Maybe we are planning to make something of our own with an external media company and reserved a lot of that content to keep it fresh. At least that’s what I hope.
Edit: also agree wholeheartedly that @sleepylion’s version was superior to both - easily.
