Morning after. Seems like it was a good idea to turn it off during the second quarter. Congrats to North on their win and dominance this season.

Will be interesting to see the off-season changes we make to the coaching panel and list, Ryan Davies pretty much confirmed to be off to the Crows.Seven players OOC at the end of this year - Baldwick, Boltz, Hampson, Heslop, Peters, R. Svarc & Williams. Boltz, Peters, & Smith have rival interest and we're interested in Allan from the Pies.

Haven't looked at the draft super closely but it seems our highest rated academy product this year is Monique Corrigan, a long-term ruck project.

This is as good as it will get for Clarko at North.

What’s his coaching win/loss without Fagan carrying him?

Just ran the numbers.

Clarkson's H & A record with Fagan as Lieutenant (Head of Coaching/Head of Football)
132 wins
55 losses
72.1% winning record

Clarkson's H & A record post-Fagan
59 wins
101 losses
36.7% winning record

Eep. Maybe it's just a coincidence.

Does that second set of numbers include Clarkson's record pre-Fagan? (2005-2007)

Watching with amusement all these Roo supporters posting on our board. But hey, they've gone back2back so all credit to them.

I saw a post in Roo's board which summarizes the irony - I don't think they'd want to acknowledge it :D

"So after playing the other 3 of the top 4 across the final series our percentage was 262% (for QF, PF, GF).
Absolute domination"

Genuine question: what is your women's program getting so right compared to the men's one?
Opinions will differ on our board, but my take is that that men's program was driven into a hole by the decision of the Board to extend Brad Scott in 2016. Scott got to a prelim with a 'renew from the top' strategy that got Waite, Higgins and Del Santo to the club, but when that ran out of steam, instead of taking a fresh course, the Board let him have another go, leading to the embarrassing attempts to poach Josh Kelly, Dustin Martin, Andrew Gaff until he finally got his big fish in Jarod Polec ;). Along the way, he broke the club culture by pushing out the likes of Drew Petrie, Boomer and Spud Firrito, and the men's program has never been the same since.

In comparison, the women's program was built from the ground up. When we missed the first round of clubs in the AFLW, North went and did the hard yards in partnership with the Melbourne University women's program, so there were something to build on when we finally did get a licence. Thereafter of course, there's no substitute for effective talent identification and recruitment - Tahlia Randall from your lot, Kearney from Bulldogs, Jas Garner from Collingwood. We've then followed what you might say is the list strategy from the Geelong men's program - use whatever first round draft picks you have to bring in established players (Birch, Shierlaw and now Sheerin) and run a good development program so that you get the best out of later picks (eg Tripodi, Gatt). Finally, we've brained it in Ireland (O'Shea, Bogue, Wall).

Didn’t Norf get rid of most of their list ages ago and try to build from the ground up.

The issue is Norf is a small club in a saturated vfl market so will always struggle and needs to get everything spot on to have a chance.

The clubs you’re competing with in the vfl market can offer more exposure and opportunity, which is apparently a big thing amongst players now.

Played 1 game this year for the Dogs, not sure how she breaks into that Roos team tbh
Pardon the intrution but l think Kate Shierlaw will retire so she would be perfect for it. Sheerin is also retiring at the end of 2026 so waiting a season will also open up a few more spots as Kearney will also retire as well as Birch..
