...I have stolen a cunning plan.

After a bit of discussion on another board I feel an idea has popped up that could really work.

The highest ranked side on the ladder in the Grand Final should earn the right to match the ground dimensions as close to their home ground as possible (within the current confines of the MCG) or keep them as they are.

The MCG will host the Grand Final now and into the future, that wont change. However, if Adelaide were to finish top of the ladder and play Collingwood in the Grand Final in ten years time for example, I feel they should be able to dictate the lines be painted in the dimensions of Adelaide Oval. It would be a small advantage the highest ranked team would earn I feel to even the otherwise unfair, but unavoidable, advantage MCG sides have.

It doesn't take much to move the posts and paint new lines.

Below is the MCG in green with the dimensions of other grounds in white.

Its actually not a bad idea. Better than I normally expect from Baldrick.

The one question i have is how much it could affect game day. At York Park when they had the lines in a long way on the wings for a few games some years back, the ball went out of bounds on the full a lot. I wonder how much players were fooled by the look of having a lot of space out wide. That is not something we would want to encourage in the year's showcase game.

That's a fair point actually. Would something like painting any part of the ground beyond the normal five metres of the boundary line blue help?
