i was just reading the realfooty.com site a few minutes ago and came across that the afl is going to play the grand final at colonial stadium in the case of a draw happening.
so if theres a draw, then theres only going to be less than 52000 to the replay the next week (more like less than 48000 the way they get people in there at the moment)
the question is why?
why r they even considering that when they have a perfectly good ground out the south eastern suburbs
even though they have stripped it of all the catering facilities etc,i still think they would make more from playing there than playing at colonial

they get 50000 corporates, mcc, afl members to the grand final at the mcg.............say good bye to the average fan getting a look in

The AFL is banking on a draw not happening.

Olympic rules state that no other major sporting event can take place several days before an olympic one in an olympic city.

The AFL (and Jeff) got a dispensation for waverley because it's actually 30km from melbourne.

But apparently it is now unfit to host a big crowd (too bad if Carlton and Geelong make the VFL grand final) so they will be negotiations if the AFL grand final is drawn

I think that Colonial would be unfit as well, seeing they have turned it into a cricket ground, I doubt they could fix it in time.
