Are they betting on this? surely Majak Daw wins this easy no questions asked.

Anyone that thinks the players take this seriously hasn't watched it before.
Dangerfield's usually taken it seriously because it's the only way he's going to win anything on GF day with how he's planned his career. I'm assuming he was disqualified this year for not having a team.

If they were serious? Hannath.
I think the AFL would prefer it to be competitive. We can't pull that trigger and have us win by the length of the straight.

Yes, he was given like a 15m handicap start which was burnt up by about only halfway through the sprint lol.

And when he reached the finish line the egg had fallen off his spoon thirty metres earlier without him noticing.

I know it's funny and all when we see some of the players named, but this race used to actually be interesting to watch when they took it a bit more seriously (circa early 2000's)

From what I can tell our representatives have been;
2015 - Crozier
2014 - Dawson
2013 - Forster
2012 - Mzungu
2011 - Mellington
2010 - Ibbotson
2009 - Hill

Hill had the acceleration, but not the top speed.

You hardly need to run that far in an AFL match at top speed. Hill was the quickest over a distance useful in an AFL match.
