Richmond can hardly be considered "underdogs". Victoria has being going wild for them this week. So much hype. Everyone on Talking Footy last night tipped them. Adelaide is strolling into town today completely under the radar, bizarrely.
I mean Adelaide are the favorites in the betting, so Tiges are the underdogs.
Who cares if 4 people think the Tiges will win, that doesn't override the betting odds

Losing a grand final is the worst feeling in the world. It's like a part of you dies and you know you'll never get it back again. Especially when you know you might not get back there for another 20 years or more.
We at Hawthorn strongly recommend winning a flag the following year

Has worked well for us since 75

Feel great. I'm also staggered there's supporters camping overnight at Punt Rd waiting to get a good spot at training tomorrow.

Losing a prelim is worse. Even if you lose a gf you get to experience the build-up and the day...the anthem, the roar at the 1st bounce and the belief your team might just win a flag
Definitely agree, there is something so empty about a prelim loss - it is the ultimate "where are you at?".

Losing a GF is terrible, obviously, and means a lot more, but like you said the excitement leading up to the game is crazy good

Your team has won two in the last, what, 10, 12, 15 years?

My team lost their only one. I was there.

I really don't think about it that often.

Like life is worse than seeing your team be shit.
Why come onto a dedicated footy forum to tell people not too care about footy. Wankerish behavior

As a 42 year old Richmond supporter I never expected to be on the other side of the world, waking up ar 4am for a 6.30am Grand Final experience. It kind of saddens me Im not there, but if we lose Im not surrounded by it. There are a few pubs I could go too, and an Aussie friend is having 10 guys over for it, but I think I just want to soak it up at home with the wife.. She will wake up at 6 to share the experience with me. Im missing alot, but I can live it through the internet. Footy Porn I guess you could say.

I remember 2008 - first GF in a long time, so similar to where Crows and Tigers are now.

I was very relaxed and enjoyed the week in the lead up. Maybe the pressure was off as we were overwhelming underdogs.

My tip is, enjoy the experience, particularly on GF day. You might get a nice surprise at the end of it.

I don't understand the Richmond supporters with the nothing to lose attitude because they weren't expected to be there. Who knows when this chance could come around again are Melbourne, St kilda and Freo supporters happy to have just been there?

Reckon the hyperbole around the Tigers has pushed the betting odds closer than they should be.
The odds have stayed pretty well steady all week so unless the bookies factored in the potential hype around Richmond at the start of the week into the starting price, it seems they're content where their position is.

Factoring hype into a price could be dangerous though as you're potentially saving yourself from a few Old Mates dropping a $100 on the Tiges but giving a sharp a chance to put $10k on Adelaide at over the odds.

I think we have a nothing to lose attitude at this stage because we also hadn't won a prelim for 35 years, so even this week is a totally new frontier for so many of us who weren't alive in 1982.

I'm starting to switch back over into nervousness though as the week is nearly done and the game is nearly here.

I'm not sure if it will be the end of the Parade today or when I wake up tomorrow there will be everything to lose again and I'll be a wreck if it all goes wrong tomorrow.

Being a wreck goes with the territory. Gets harder from about midday tomorrow.

I don't understand how there can be pressure surrounding something you can't control. It's weird how people who have no involvement in a club think it's a reflection of them or something. Like when the Bulldogs won the flag last year so a good portion of their supporters automatically became authorities on everything to do with the game.

Geelong lost 2008, played 2009
St Kilda lost 2009, played 2010
Hawthorn lost 2012, played 2013
Sydney lost 2014, played 2016

There's also a fair chance you can get another crack at it.

Port lost 2007
Collingwood lost 2011
Fremantle lost 2013

Enjoy it!
When your tigers get their first goal the sense of elation is prob the same no matter where/ what time you watch it
