MOD Notice:

Hi all,

Registration will take place on Thursday, September 8th - you MUST use your 12-digit membership barcode to register before the preliminary final to gain access to the grand final if we make it, see the following link for details:

As in previous years, we expect that there will be numerous requests in the coming days for unused/spare barcodes. Some requests may come from people who have been around a while and are familiar to most posters, others might be from not so familiar names. If you have a spare barcode it is up to you to assess the person making the request on your own and decide whether you would like to deal with them.

If you want to request a barcode in this thread you must have been a member of the BigFooty forums for at least 2 years and have at least 500 posts, including a history of posting on the Swans board. BigFooty is a community and we would like to reward those who participate in the forums not just those who only pop up whenever a barcode or ticket offer is available and then bugger off into the sunset never to be seen again.

If you meet the above criteria, we are happy for you to post here if you are looking for a spare barcode. All barcode requests are to go in this thread and nowhere else.

If you request a barcode without fulfilling the above criteria your post will be deleted.

8th September 2022
P1 Registration time: 8am - 11am AEST
P2 Registration time: 12pm - 4pm AEST
P3 Registration time: 5pm - 9pm AEST

i got standing room for 14 and 16 with P3 so you certainly in with a chance

What's standing room like? We'll have two juniors with us who might have height issues.. wouldn't want them to basically have no view of the game for 3 hours.

I'm tempted to chance it and say no standing room tickets and just accept if we don't get it we don't get it.

I got standing room in 2005 when we won - I was 16. I was at the front and you could see the whole game pretty easily.. Was there like 2 hours before the game started and didn't move. People around me moved and their spots were taken up during the day.

For kids if you in the front row it would be fine. I got there like hour early in 16 to get front row and obviously mate and i alternated rounds to hold the spot.
People in our bay was mix of fans but the kids in attendance were being let through to front to be able to see so regardless when you get there i think kids should be right to view it but dont quote me as i wasnt paying attention to that side of things when i was there

tempted to do the same due to my knee or hold standing room and wait to see if anyone sells seated tickets in the week leading up due to covid etc.

Yes! If swans win next week, ensure you have enough funds to pay for "best available" ticket option. Not sure what the Best Avail category will be for P2 members tho. Have enough to cover the amount of tickets plus a bit more.

Yep, I'd leave enough $$ ready in account to cover $435 per seat to be sure (for adult):-

2012 P3s got a ticket. Not sure how many Swans fans will travel to Melbourne if we win. Over 50k members means it definitely becomes a lottery at P2 and P3

What is the exact allocation of club members tickets again? 21k or something like that?
17k allocation to each club.

In 2016 we had a thousand left over standing room tickets unallocated from I think 15k, which went to Dogs fans. So only "no standing room" people missed out.

In 2014 a bit over seven pages of accounts missed out compared with 54 pages of those successful, again from 15k allocation. So about 13 or 14% missed out.

In 2012 we also didn't fill our allocation until there was a secondary sale to members and Hawks fans on here had an enormous cry over it. So nobody missed out.

This time around, if the Lions make the GF, with further to travel from Qld, fewer Victorian members, and only 43k members total, I don't believe they will fill their allocation. But Geelong or Melbourne certainly will.

Yeah, I'm still going to apply (P3) but would be fairly annoyed to pay for flights/accom/ticket only to barely see the game. I don't have any physical limitations other than only being 5-8, so plan to get there at least an hour or two beforehand to get a decent spot. Hopefully find a couple of other Swans fans to hold my spot if I need to go grab a drink or go use the facilities. Can always offer a bribe of a beer, because then if you come back holding a few it looks like you do actually have a spot with friends to get back to.

So assuming that 17k is now the norm, even 2014 style demand probably means the only people likely to miss out are P3 ‘no standing room’. If it exceeds 2014 I guess things could change?

Yeah registered too, easy enough. Now it's over to the Swans and then a lack of enthusiasm/ability from other Swans fans to see if I get there.

Already booked free-cancellation accommodation. Still tossing up whether I drive to my hometown (4.5hrs from both Adelaide and Melb) the night before, then the rest on GF morning, or just make the weekend easier on myself and pay whatever flights cost (obviously from Adelaide it should be better, but it's already about $700). The latter certainly allows a bit more celebrating if we win it. At least I have a driving option (and it's a little better than coming from Sydney), unlike some.

Fair guess, but Mt Gambier. It's not halfway on a straight drive, but useful to break it up over Fri night / Sat morning if needed.

Fun Swans facts - I've marked Robe (Dawson's hometown) and just up to the right from there, Lucindale, where Gould is from (might make people more nervous given it's not that much difference to Melbourne than Adelaide and thus more clubs). So maybe, not fun facts.

I'd suggest people take the punt and book airline tickets now. Return flights available at <$500. They will be more than double that price if we win the prelim.

booked train ticket down and flight back up. can cancel train tix for a full refund and flight tixs for a voucher/credit lol. if we dont make it/don't get a ticket

I had standing room in 2005 and it was pretty crowded so I suggest getting there as early as you can to get a good spot (If you're over 6 foot tall it might not matter too much where you stand). Viewing was also slightly restricted because of a pylon (if this is the case you'll know before you get there as your ticket will say its restricted viewing) but it was still far better than watching from home.
My wife and I had standing room tickets for 2005. It was advertised on the news a few days prior that standing room tickets would be sold from the MCG the following morning. Got straight into the car and off I went with a pillow and a sleeping bag. Had a great night amongst a hundred or so like minded fans.
Got to the GF about 8.30am to make sure we got there early enough to get in the front row. My wife is a little shortie.
Good thing we did as the bay that we were in was pretty crowded. My brother in law who was at the ground with his family came around to see us about midday and he couldn't believe how crowded in we were. Said that there was plenty of spare room in their bay. He had a couple of spare tickets ffom those who were already in so we went off to this other bay. The difference was remarkable.
In the first one we went to, there would have been about 20 people. In the other there was 12 and that included us who shouldn't have been there. We had heaps of room.
So the point of my post is that you could get a good bay but you may not. Get there early anyway.
