That's the point - it doesn't work like that.

I highly doubt that if you registered a group of eight, all eight of you would have to be randomly selected for all of you to get tickets. That would be approximately (1/3)^8 chance, or 0.015%.

As BlueNWhite says, if the first member is chosen, then all in the group are.
To anyone that has followed this advice, sorry but it's incorrect. I just checked with the club and they advised that you can only put your membership number in once. That includes your mate putting it in as well. So once it's in the system that's it, it's in.

If you are apart of a group then all numbers have to be picked. Doesn't matter which one isn't picked whether it be the first or the last if any of a group miss out you all miss out.

So if you can't stand the idea of going by yourself then only add 1-2 other members as you'll probably miss out otherwise.

Sorry but thems the facts according to GFC and I'm guessing they know a little more the SJ.

Good luck everyone.

If this is true then it's officially a terrible, terrible system.
How on earth are people going to get seats together - the chances of getting just 2 member #'s drawn together to sit together is minimal

Yeah I don't believe it either. A 0.015% chance for a group of eight? Why bother. Don't believe a word of it.

I would think that the whole point of registering a group together, is so that there is a fair chance of getting a group booking. If the first one is picked, then the group is.

Surely.

This is the sentence which interests me from the information:

However, members should be aware that applications with more than one seat are “one in all in” or “one out all out” – group bookings will not be split.
You could take this either way. But surely it means that when the first member is chosen, then the rest are "all in".

I know I read that line and was confused. So I rang the 1300 GO CATS hotline to get some clarity and they told me that if 1 misses out all miss out regardless of order.

Unless she was telling porkies or didn't know the system well enough (not hard not to understand) then I'm pretty sure the system works exactly how I stated in my previous post. If you don't believe me ring them up and ask again. I'm happy to be proven wrong.

I think it's disappointing that the guidelines are so ambiguous.

Phone number: 1300 363 142

Also important to note you MUST put in the membership barcode of the credit card holder first. And then all other subsequent memberships.

Anyway, am very relieved to hear people have had no problems. I just gotta wait till 12pm till I can call.
But I'm using my dad's credit card! What do I do now?!

Ring the club up they might be able to read out your membership number to you.

1300 GO CATS
They won't do that.

did any of you people sutdy maths at all?
you are giving geelong a bad name...........
your membership is not registered or drawn - your receipt number corresponding to a group of memberships is numbered and drawn out.
therefore if you are a group of 8 or a group of 1 you have exactly the same odds of going - so might as well register with your mates!
the only caveat is that when they start getting to the lower end, the bigger the group you have the more likely it is you wont be sitting together but exactly the same amount of seats are allocated regardless.
so the odds do not change of getting a ticket.
