If we cant get tickets then all good. Our accomodation is booked, our aircraft is booked, we fly to Melbourne on Friday morning (day before GF). The Grand Final parade would be good to go to and on that Friday night there is a race meeting at Moonee Valley. So whatever happens it will be a good few days. I love Melbourne akd it will be my friend's first time to Melbourne.

There used to be interstate travel packages available years ago & assume there still would be if they haven't already sold out - cost me and a mate ~ $1500ea a long time ago which covered tickets, flights & couple nights at a decent hotel, also tickets for functions we did not attend, check with a travel agent if you haven't already.

Also might find them on ebay in a few weeks, will cost you though.

I remember the good old days of 2008 where you could get a centre square package the week of the GF.

Now it is sold out 6 months before.

The only way I could possibly imagine general admission tickets going on sale would be if it were GWS vs West Coast, Port Adelaide or Sydney.

Can anyone remember, but I THINK that for one of the 2005/2006 grand finals a very small amount of GA tickets were made available as the sales were not very high.
2005.

Got standing room for like $120 the day or two before the match.

Even if the Giants are playing - any tickets not used from their allocation will go on sale to members of their opponent later in the week

There were some standing room tickets that weren't sold from the swans allocation last year that went on sale to dogs fans on the Wednesday.

You can always try to win them via various competitions held during the parade and "festival of footy".

There's also a radio station that will be giving away tickets outside the ground on the day to 2 people wearing the best mascot-inspired home-made costumes. In other words, if it's an Adelaide vs Port grand final, get your hands on as many feathers as you can as well as chrome spray paint and styrofoam because you and your mate will need to dress up as a crow and a lightning bolt if you're serious about getting in.

It was 2005. I remember because I bought one.

It's always possible to get an AFL reserve ticket from a gold member on the black market. Not cheap though.

There should be the 1k package ticket available on the afl site.

I bought one before the prelim last year just in case I missed out in the dogs members ballot.
Ended up getting a ballot ticket and on-selling my afl ticket (which sold out the week of the prelim) for face value to another dogs supporter.

1k is a fair bit of coin but it really is an amazing day, especially if your team gets there.

just fork out the $1500-2k. If you have never been to a GF you should go to at least one in your life time. **** it.
You don't need to spend that much just walk around with a sign saying looking for tickets, should be able to get one in the $400-500 range.

Unless things have drastically changed since I did that in 09 and 11.

Don't recall those years, but there would never be general admission, it would still be reserved seating.
Surely if tickets are not taken up whether it be a competing club (only GWS could possibly not fill their allocation), AFL members or corporates...the residual of tickets should go to members of the other competing club (which there'd be tons of Adelaide/Geelong/Richmond) who were unsuccessful in their ballots
