Grant Thomas - why the hate (for us)?

I can see Zac Smith developing into a Dean Cox type of player. Far different to the way Nic Naitanui is expected to develop. Naitanui's presence around stoppages and second-efforts are second to none and Smith's ability to read the play as well as win tap-outs to advantage is also fantastic. Who will be a better ruckman/player in the long-term is quite subjective.

If you arent A wce supporter then gtfo you f**kwit, all you ever have to say is negative things about the eagles i see it everyday from you, its either you are a grumpy old man or a troll.
Which one is it?

Wow, settle down.
I love this football club and have grown up with it, only missing a handful of home games since I was born.

I have grown to kinda like Nat, and don't get me wrong, his chase and tackle and ruckwork are absolutely second to none, especially for a man of his stature.

But I feel that Smith has a much more rounded game, and will develop into a superstar of the game, with a similar playing style to dean Cox

I don't normally agree with Grant, but I think there's a case to be made.

We sent all our senior players to the shop and basically gave up by quarter time in most matches. I couldn't confidently say we gave everything to winning last year, nor should we have.

In the big picture, who cares...
Dwayne Russell, is that you?

Strikes me as a bloke who is just naturally grumpy and that's his media currency. Every now and then he has a hobby horse that he barracks for. Neil Craig being an example
This.

The tone in his voice never changes no matter what topic he is talking about. He is just a miserable prick whose personality has been soured by his failure at St Kilda as coach. Not the sort of person you would want to hang around or befriend if you want to feel positive about life.

Footy classified in general focuses on negatives. Collingwood were great but didn't stop them talking about malthouse going somewhere else. Bulldogs were great but they talked about eades coaching position. And rattens. We had a great win but they talk about how dhit we were last year and insinuate we were tanking. Tried their best to get grant Thomas to tee off at Malcolm blight

They spend too much time talking about off field issues and not enough talking about the games IMO. Wish I had fox sometimes

No great suprise he takes 'potshots' at the Eagles the week they are playing St blunder.

Just another agenda driven Victorian muppet.

Pffftttt. Zac Smith has infinite more talent than Nic Nat

I don't weigh into Smith vs Naitanui debates much because I can't really make a definitive statement, they're both supremely talented but in my possibly biased view Naita will be the better player due to his immense impact on games, but as I said I stay out of it.

What you've written though, is total bullshit.

Grant "bitter" Thomas is up there with Robert "talentless" Walls as two critics who can't say a good thing about anything from Western Australia.

The bias of the Victorian media is embarrassing. Their knowledge and research is lazy and shameful and it makes watching AFL at times painful.

Dwayne "I repeat myself over and over" Russell is another one who struggles to say anything good about West Coast and if he does it is often a back-handed compliment.

You can always count on one thing regarding the Victorian media. If West Coast are doing well, they will go out of their way to find ways to criticise them.

If you dream it you can do it.:D

We ran a number of teams very close last season with huge efforts by players. Turnovers and a lack of composure killed us. Out list is now more mature and our coaches have been developing a game plan over years that is now instilled well and truly.

Cox didn't have a pre season but played through while hopelessly underdone, Nic played 80% of the season with a shoulder injury (both could have gone out early in the season), Glass was out with a major injury for most of the season (I saw him after teh early Swans game and he could not walk and cary his bag), etc, etc. Oh yes Kerr could have surely played he only tore his hamstring off the bone. There were many more but these players have impacted big time this season: For example we now dominate in the ruck with two fit ruckmen described by Brownless (who did travel to be at the game) as the best two in the comp.

The real problem is that most Melbourne commentators don't watch our games and the duds on Monday night only watch their own teams. They have no clue and don't understand the quality we have been developing. Morons like Lyon are still cracking sads about the Watt - Nic saga and have blinkers on.

Thomas has more emotianal bagage than Lady Ga Ga

Don't expect much from them. Stick to fox

why the hate?

well, just for starters, we have two top quality ruckmen. It's two more than he had at St Kilda, and two more than he wanted at St Kilda.

if he's hating on us then we must be on the right track.

Didn't know playing devil's advocate would elicit such a strong reaction :D

Here's my response to your responses:

I know what the injury list was. I'm aware of Rosa not practicing, Cox playing injured before being shut down etc.

I also know we applied a game plan that we could not execute for more than a quarter at a time. Our ball use was appalling yet we persisted with a "let's play on at all cost" gameplan despite running A.Selwood, Ebert and Priddis as the prime midfield movers hoping to out gun opposition teams. On top of that, there were some questionable selection/tactical choices starting with Masten on the HFF for the entire year. (How's that worked out?)

Were we shit? Yes. Should we have won the wooden spoon? Hell no. The discombobulation on-field was a reflection of the off-field. More than once, I felt we simply gave up - players were confused, coaches had no answers.

I can't confidently say we went into every game with the intent on winning every quarter like this we have this year. Anyone who does, is lying to themselves.

There's a case to be made that we rolled over, that's all I'm saying.

Agree, trying to find why one is the better than the other is too difficult. Both as talented as each other.

Agree with the last bit especially. Unless you have proof you can't state something as fact like that moron netball fan did. It's a useless opinion.

We didnt tank.

He is meakly implying that we did.

Grow a spine and at least say it you flog (Grant).
Tanking is such a taboo word.

Not meaning to get into semantics, but for me, tanking implies losing for significant benefits. There were no significant benefits, so there is no tanking.

Like I posted above, "rolling over" is the way I'ld describe the 2010 season.

Grant Thomas is a contrarian and likes to argue and be the centre of converation, some people are just like that. He's also too stubborn to admit he's wrong, which when combined with average intelligence and his act of superiority when voicing his opinion is why he's so un-likeable.

Imagine being trapped in a room with Grant Thomas, Andrew Bolt and Derryn Hinch....Three gods in their own eyes.

I think their show started relatively well all those years ago. It is average now. No game analysis or detailed tactical discussion, just pointless gossip and axe grinding from people who have limited idea, except for from their thauces.

I don't mind Gary though. At least his football knowledge is sound and he is relatively fair. If not pretty bummy about his mates (eg, JB and Eddie last night) and the Dees.
