Great game

Sensational game of footy. In the third QTR the doggies were the best competition we have played all year(I'm a hawk fan if you hadn't guessed). The dogs were unstoppable for a while.

You'll go far, great coach, unbelieveable midfield (when firing)-finals for sure.

I always wondered why I liked Hawk supporters! Thanks for the feedback. Great win - congratulations. Hope we meet in the GF! I'll fly in for sure, if we do!

Very iffy right now local. My dad had a bit of a set back with his health this week and I'd have to make the decision to return in June in the next few weeks. I might wait until Jan '02 as long as things are OK on this end. It also might be easier to get a teaching job at the beginning of the new school year, rather than at Semester 2. No matter what, I'll be posting here and the Bulldogs Forum until I leave. I also was asked to write a piece for Bulldogs Unleashed about my almost becoming a North supporter a few days after I arrived in Melbourne and my first match - Footscray vs Essendon in 1976. Been a bit busy this weekend with family so haven't had time to compose anything yet. Gotta be careful - I'm an English teacher and I ain't gunna have no speling erors or grmma mistaxes in my storys!

I'll be in Phoenix for next week's match and then Los Angeles for the Demons match. I should have access to a computer May 7th or so and will try to catch up with results. Now that I'm a paid up member again (and so is my cat, Jordan) I have a monetary interest in the club too! - They might want to borrow some of American money!!

Thanks mick! Finally a post from an opposition supporter that isn't gloating after a win.

Yeah it was a great game, but pretty disappointing to lose after that comeback.

Sensational game for you maybe, Mick.

Seriously, despite the loss, it was a fantastic match. You guys were simply too good, and from what I saw yesterday, will give the dons a run for their money!

A couple of positives for us:
*Managing to kick 19 goals against one of the best defences in the league.

*Proving that we can match it with the best in a shootout without the need to resort to flooding.... reminiscent of 97/98 for stages there.

*Huddo continuing his good form ..... this one is just for the 10,000 Hawks supporters booing him

.

*Nathan Brown! Enough said.

Negatives:
*Defenders had a shocker! And considering that the likes of Holland and Thompson (for half the game) were out, it could have been far worse.

*Contessa/Garlick looked out of sorts, obviously a little underdone, and I'm strongly hoping that they can return to form pretty fast, especially without the likes Libba's and Romero's over the next few weeks.

* Wish Penny and Murphy got more of a run, and thought that Dooley would have been very handy in the ruck and his height would have been useful to drop back or as another option up forward, ala Hunter towards the end.

* Could add a number of players here, but I wont as it would be unfair given their good form over the past few weeks.

BTW Mick: Wish I could be as confident as you about us making the finals (however I reckon we'll be thereabouts).... totally agree on the gun midfield and coach though!

Please accept another freindly pist from a hawks man. I love the spirit of the Doggies they must fill you with pride with those pumped up fightbacks.
On some of Westys topics I would like to ask some questions
1.How much is Wynd being missed when other teams are dominating you ?- he was great at getting back & providing a body in the way.
2. Do you guy's worry about the high scoring style not bringing success? Your 3 losses have all include horrible stretches where the opposition have been able to pile goals on.
Your great wins last year were dare I say it classic Footscray touging it out in a slog.
Cheers anyway & all the best for the rest of the year (round 20 excepted)

Glad your 'merger' never went through! But those club colours!!!!

Good point about Wynd-he sat in front of me on saturday and I was wishing he was on the ground. Another one we missed was Libba-he can really get under packs and hold the ball up.
