In the 2000s 2005 and 2006. 2005 Sydney breaking their 72 year drought and Leo Barry's mark; 2006 for obvious reasons.

For the 2010's 2010 draw, 2012 and 2016.
2011 is most remembered for its infamous entertainment by Meatloaf than the actual game itself. The actual game was close for at least three quarters before Collingwood ran out of puff in the last enabling Geelong to win its 3rd flag in 5 years and 19th premiership.

Sydney would've won had Cousins not been on something in that last quarter. I've never seen a player run out a game like that - especially not a match of that intensity. Freakish performance.
Sydney were the ones who were full of running in the last half and finished the game stronger, but yeah it was Cousins who was the only one who finished the game strong

You just beat me to it

9 goals 6 behinds in the last qtr to a paltry 2 goals 1 behind

And then in the following year GF the Dons kicked 11 goals in the last qtr ( 20 goals in the last qtr in back to back GFs - no one will come close to that ) and flogged the sorrowful Hawks by an even 13 goals

Haven't watched it a 2nd time but remember really enjoying 2002. What was it 9 points or something in the end?
The margin didn't get to double figures for either side all day. There was never more than 9 points in it. Amazing contest.

Yeah pretty sure it was 9 points. Also think the margin didn't get into double-figures at any stage during the match if memory serves.

Brilliant game. Genuinely tough match with some top class skill mixed-in too.

Well obviously they were full of running, genius. West Coast were four goals to the good at half time.

I was emphasising the prowess of Cousins - had he not been so immense in that last quarter, Sydney would have won. Did I not spell that out well enough for you in my previous post?

Cousins and the rest of the Eagles were drug tested after the game, zero positive results.

Your allegations that he was on something have as much weight as saying the Hawks were as well during their glory years.

The players' association sought that injunction. And despite the 2008 flag, those certainly weren't Hawthorn's glory years.

There's no need to be so defensive. It definitely seemed like Cousins was on something - probably a reflection of him as a footballer, he was unbelievable. I don't really care for the widespread allegations and I'm not insinuating your flag should be tainted - just pointing out that Cousins got you over the line that day. Don't you agree?

Embley, Waters, Kerr and Chick were more pivotal to us holding on in that one. Cousins and Judd were well held after half time.

Old School - '89. Was there that day.
Recently - '09 sticks out as an absolute classic, closely followed by '12.
