Personally I don't give homosexuals a second thought. That's how much I'm worried about their influence on me. Why are you guys so preoccupied. For all you know, your brother or son or nephew or best mate could be *** but still be in the closet. You may have a bit of disowning to do. I once thought it the done thing to be disgusted at the thought of something I was not in to but then I realised I don't have to think about it. It's none of my business. I could talk to dozens of *** people every day but not know it. I probably like these people for who they are. What an ignorant fool I would be to suddenly not like them because I found out about their personal persuasions. I dislike an awful lot of heterosexuals too but that has nothing to do with their sexuality. I couldn't care less either way.

CIK and Easty I would suggest that you are both the most uninformed people on this subject that I have ever read. Watch out both of you because Aids is not always passed on through sex. CIK i would have at least thought that you were more intelligent than you have shown here. Parents of children who have aids and others through no fault of their own would read what you guys have been saying and shake their heads in disbeliefe, and Easty dont tell me that it all started because of Homosexuals we all know how it started, the fact is that their are thousands of people who have it and they are going to die from it and they are not Homosexuals. CIK if you tell this joke to 100 people tomorrow and it gets a lot of laughs then I would have to say that most of them would have to be men ( and I dont want to upset those men in here who have spoken out and and have obviously moved into the 21 century and realize that our world is made up of all sorts of people) and who the hell are we to judge. Yes the aids virus we can do without but it is here and I repeat their are a lot of innocent people out their who are affected by it, I know their will always be jokes about it but the ill informed seem to find them funnier than most. As I said before watch out Easty you can get aids, lets hope you or your partner never have a blood transfusion and later on down the track your children I could go on but I have a feeling that this is not going to give you any more of an understanding than you already dont have. Lets get it into perspective here. What Easty posted was a joke. Nothing more , nothing less. Jokes are told about diseases, death, race, religion, afflictions etc etc every day. That is the nature of humour. You have probably read how the anti-vilification laws they are talking about in Victoria, have specificallly excluded comedians, and what they may say in the course of their entertainment. That is because even Bracks and his cronies are smart enough to realise you cannot regiment people's speech to that extent.
Now, how did Easty's post become an anti-**** matter ? Foulmouth Alf made it so. We were all just happy to laugh at it,(or not) and move on. He wanted to be offended, as is the inclination of the "new age guys", so he made a big deal about it.
Personally, I am disgusted by homosexuality, and I am entitled to be so. I will not have any left wing types like Alf telling me how to think, act or behave. If others want to cave in to the political correctness crap that is their right.

I have mixed feeling on the issues raised in this thread, homosexuality disgusts me, but I'll defend to the death an individuals right to be so inclined. I hate smoking, but again I'll defend to the death someones right to smoke. The ideas of "thought police" & "political corectness" are hell on earth to me. As long as what you do with others is consentual, it is none of my business. As long as what you do does not infringe on someone elses freedoms, again, it is none of my business. As long as what you do is legal, again, it is none of my business.

We have freedoms in this wonderful country which should be respected, never taken for granted. People will do things you don't like, but as long as it does not infringe upon you, it should be none of your business.

What has to happen though is for us to become tolerant, to have respect for each other, but also to be adult enough to accept criticism. These observations should be worldwide, IMO, what makes us uniquely Australian thouugh, is our sense of humour, we should be able to laugh at a joke, at ourselves, and know that usually the best humour is when it does cut deep.

Laugh at Easty's joke, but chastise him for his willingness to use an iron bar.
Debate with CIK his views on society.
Argue with Alf about politics.
Sympathise with Daphne for her compassion.

All this to me shows the only wrong here is Easty wanting to bash some people, which proves how juvenile he really is.
